About The Pottery Experience: For Curious Hearts & Messy Fingers
Pottery is a practice in patience. When you join a session, remember that clay has its own pace. Your pieces need time to dry, be trimmed, and fired in the kiln, which is why your final, food-safe ceramic creations are typically ready for pickup about four weeks after your class. It is a slow, rewarding process that honors the time it takes to create something lasting.
Finding Your Flow with Clay
At The Janbo, we view pottery as a form of therapy. Tucked away on Sarjapur Road, our studio is designed to be a quiet escape from the city’s rush. We don't believe in art school pressure—we believe in the grounding nature of working with your hands.
How Our Workshops Work
- Beginner Sessions: If you are just starting, we cover the essentials of wheel throwing and hand-building. You will learn to center the clay, shape your vessel, and understand the basic anatomy of a pot.
- The Ceramic Process: For those interested in functional ware, our full ceramic workshops include the entire cycle: trimming, glazing, and double-firing. This ensures your mugs and bowls are durable and food-safe for home use.
- Specialty Projects: We also host sessions dedicated to specific items like ceramic lamps, crockery sets, and even fine silver jewellery through sand-casting, giving you a chance to explore art beyond the wheel.
Practical Details
- The Studio: Located at Kodathi Gate, Sarjapur Road. We keep the space open, airy, and filled with natural light to help you disconnect.
- Kids & Teams: We host dedicated clay camps for children and customized sessions for corporate teams looking for a creative team-building activity.
- Pop-up Workshops: If you are not in Bangalore, we frequently travel to Chennai, Kochi, Hyderabad, and Mumbai to host pop-up workshops. Follow our schedule to see when we might be in your city.
Whether you are looking to learn a new skill or just need a few hours of silence, we invite you to show up, get messy, and enjoy the process.
The Janbo
I started The Janbo after hitting a pause button on my own life. I found that clay wasn't just a medium—it was a way to ground myself again. My studio is my heart, and I invite you to share in that quiet, messy, and healing process with me.
