The Janbo Story: Finding Therapy in Clay

Before we were a studio, we were just a search for stillness. Here is how I traded a fast-paced life for the quiet, messy, and grounding world of pottery.

One day, I opened YouTube and found slow-living vlogs. Calm people, a simpler world. That's when something shifted, quietly.

At Janbo, pottery isn't just about shaping clay, it's about molding connections, emotions, and stories.

How it started vs. how it's going. From a cozy terrace nook, we've blossomed into an expansive artistic haven for all dreamers.

The clay, like life, is both malleable and stubborn, requiring patience and love to transform it into something beautiful.

About Our Story & Philosophy

If you are curious about our ceramic workshops, please keep in mind that we don't rush the work. After your session, your pieces go through a 4-week process of drying, trimming, glazing, and two separate high-temperature kiln firings. It is a slow, patience-testing cycle, but it is the only way to ensure you walk away with a durable, food-safe mug or bowl that truly lasts.

How The Janbo Came to Be

In February 2020, I hit a wall. I left my career, my social circles, and my phone behind to simply exist in silence. It was in that pause that I found clay. What started as a solo attempt to quiet a busy mind grew into The Janbo—a studio on Sarjapur Road where I now help others find the same kind of peace.

Our Philosophy: Pottery as Therapy

We do not believe in art school pressure or perfectionism here. Whether you are joining us for a beginner pottery class or a more intensive ceramic workshop, our goal is the same: to get your hands messy and your mind clear. We embrace the wobbly bowls and the asymmetrical mugs because they represent the humanity of the process.

Where You Can Find Us

While our home base is in Kodathi Gate, Bengaluru, we believe in taking the magic of clay on the road. We regularly host pop-up events and workshops in cities like Chennai, Kochi, Hyderabad, and Mumbai.

Beyond the Studio

We focus on functional art that you can actually use daily. From wheel throwing basics to fine silver jewellery sand-casting, every session is designed to connect you to the material. If you are looking for a mindful weekend activity, a corporate team-bonding session, or a creative escape from the screen-heavy daily grind, we have a space for you. No experience is required—just an open mind and a willingness to get a little dirty.
