About The Potter's Wheel
If this is your first time on the wheel, do not expect a masterpiece in the first hour. The real goal is learning to control your breath and hand pressure against the spinning clay. My team and I guide you through the initial centering phase, which is the hardest part. You will walk away with your own raw clay creation, but the focus here is on the tactile experience of learning how to shape it, not just the final product.
Pottery is as much about patience as it is about creativity. In our studio, we focus on the fundamental techniques of wheel throwing and hand-building. Beginners start by understanding how to prepare the clay, removing air pockets, and centering it on the wheel—a process that takes time to master.
What to Expect
Most of our pottery sessions are structured as 2 to 3 hour workshops. We provide all the necessary tools, including terracotta clay, and our senior artists provide hands-on instruction. Whether you are joining us at our Vijayanagar studio or visiting another location, the environment is kept casual and encouraging. We believe that getting your hands dirty is part of the therapy.
Practical Details
- Takeaways: You will be able to take home the raw, wet clay model you create during the session. Please note that firing and glazing are typically separate processes and not included in the standard beginner workshop fee.
- Who can join: Our sessions are suitable for all ages, from kids to adults. We have dedicated batches where we keep things playful and interactive, ensuring everyone feels comfortable with the clay.
- Scheduling: Since wheel space is limited to ensure everyone gets enough practice time, we run these in small, shared batches. It is recommended to check our weekend schedule or call ahead to book your slot, especially for group visits.
Whether you are looking to unwind after a long work week or want to explore pottery as a new hobby, our academy offers a space where you can experiment without the fear of failure.
