About Beginner's Joy: The Pottery Wheel
When you book this session, you're not just watching a demo—you're getting 60 minutes of hands-on time on the electric wheel. Most people walk in thinking they need 'talent,' but the truth is, it’s mostly just learning to trust your hands. I’ll be right there to guide you through centering and shaping, so don't worry about making a 'perfect' piece. We focus on the process, and you’ll even get to take home your favorite piece once it’s fired. 🫶
Your First Time on the Wheel
There’s something incredibly grounding about feeling wet clay spin under your fingertips. In my Beginner’s Joy workshop, we skip the intimidation factor and get straight to the fun.
What the Session Looks Like:
- 60 Minutes of Wheel Time: This is where you learn to center the clay and pull up those walls. It’s a bit of a dance with the machine, but once you find your rhythm, it’s pure therapy.
- 60 Minutes of Hand-Building: We balance out the wheel work with some hand-building—pinching and coiling. This gives you a break from the wheel and lets you add your own creative touch to your work.
- The 'Messy' Guarantee: Seriously, bring clothes you don't mind getting clay on! That’s the sign of a good session.
What Happens to Your Art? You create, but you don't have to worry about the science. After the class, your chosen piece stays in the studio for its transformation. I handle the trimming, drying, and double firing (bisque and glaze) to make it food-safe and waterproof. It takes about 3-4 weeks for the kiln to do its work, and then your piece is ready to be picked up from our Jeevan Bima Nagar studio.
Is This for You? Absolutely. Whether you’re a complete novice, looking for a solo date, or just want to try something creative after a long work week, this session is designed to make you feel at ease. No pressure, no judgment—just clay, music, and a bit of laughter.
