About The Janbo Journey: On the Road

When we pack our bags for a pop-up, we don't just bring the clay; we bring the entire Janbo studio vibe. Whether it's a ceramic lamp workshop in Chennai or a sculptural session in a new city, we carefully recreate our Bangalore-based sanctuary in a local partner space. These are immersive, 3-hour sessions where you get to find your rhythm and walk away with a piece that is truly yours—all without needing a shred of prior experience.

Our Approach to Traveling Workshops

Pottery is a practice that demands patience and presence. When we travel to cities like Chennai, Kochi, Hyderabad, or Mumbai, we don't rush the process. We host pop-up events, like our popular 'Clay Kalai' series, where we collaborate with local venues to build a temporary creative home. It is not just about finishing a product; it is about the sensory experience—the smell of the clay, the music in the background, and the quiet satisfaction of seeing a form emerge under your fingers.

What to Expect

  • Guided Instruction: Whether it is wheel throwing or hand-building, I will walk you through the techniques step-by-step. You do not need to be an artist; you just need to be curious.
  • The 'Clay Kalai' Experience: Our signature lamp-making workshops are designed to be tactile and technical. You will learn to carve, shape, and structure a functional ceramic lamp that you can actually use in your home.
  • The Wait: Clay is a slow medium. After your workshop, your pieces need time to dry, be glazed, and undergo our high-temperature firing process. We handle all the post-production in our main studio to ensure your final piece is durable and food-safe, shipping it back to you once it's ready.

Why Join Us?

People join our pop-ups for many reasons—to break away from their screens, to meet fellow creators in their city, or simply to see if they can handle the 'messy' side of creativity. If you have been looking for an excuse to pause your week and get your hands dirty, these workshops are that gentle nudge.

The Janbo

Studio at Kodathi Gate, Sarjapur Road, BengaluruStarts from 1,400 Per Person per Session

I’m Madhumita, and The Janbo started as my own way to find silence in the noise. I believe clay isn't just art—it’s therapy. When I’m on the road with my workshops, I’m looking for that same connection with you, finding stories in the mud, one city at a time.
