The learning journey never ends. We invite experienced practitioners and masters to our shala to share wisdom beyond our daily asana practice, deepening our collective understanding of yoga.

I was so fortunate to host Tara Mitra for a two day workshop at the shala. She shared her deep knowledge of asana, pranayama, chanting, and Ayurveda, offering a complete and holistic exploration of the yogic path.

My friend Kapil, founder of Ashtanga Yoga Jaipur, leading a beautiful Pranayama workshop at our shala. It is a blessing to have such knowledgeable teachers share their light with our community.

A group photo with Kapil after he graciously taught classes at the shala while I was away. The community was blessed to have the chance to study under him, and we are all deeply grateful.

Another photo of our students with guest teacher Kapil. These visits enrich our shala and strengthen the bonds of our wider yoga community.

A happy group of practitioners after a session with Kapil. His presence brought a wonderful energy to the space, and we look forward to his next visit.

I was honored to have my friend and modern master, Suvir, founder of Ashtanga Yoga Mumbai, visit our shala. He shared his wisdom on the importance of showing up to the practice every day, inspiring all of us with his dedication.

Remembering the opening Homa ceremony for our shala, performed by the revered Challekere brothers. Their auspicious blessings gave us a powerful and sacred start to our journey in this new space.

About Guest Teachers & Deep Dives

When we host guest teachers, it is about creating a container for dedicated students to explore specific lineages—like Mysore-style Ashtanga or Hindustani classical Kirtan—that aren't part of our daily schedule. You will find that these sessions often run longer and require a different level of focus, so we provide all necessary props, floor seating, and herbal tea during breaks to keep the environment supportive for long hours of study.

A Space for Deeper Inquiry

Yoga is a vast ocean, and sometimes we need guides to help us navigate specific currents. While our daily shala practice focuses on steady, disciplined asana, these deep-dive workshops allow us to zoom in on niche areas. Whether it is a weekend exploring the subtle nuances of pranayama, or a morning session on the intersection of Ayurveda and the yogic diet, the goal is always to move from theory to lived experience.

What to Expect

These sessions are distinct from our regular classes:

  • Intimate Group Sizes: We cap most guest workshops to ensure that every practitioner has the chance to interact with the visiting teacher. You aren't just sitting in a lecture hall; you are in a practice space.
  • Focus on Lineage: We invite teachers like Suvir, Tara Mitra, and others who share our commitment to honest, non-commercial practice. We want you to learn from someone who has walked the path they are teaching.
  • Traditional Setting: To honor the guest teacher and the knowledge they bring, we prepare the shala with fresh flowers, traditional lighting, and specific seating arrangements to facilitate longer periods of meditation and discussion.

Why Join a Deep Dive?

If you have been practicing for a while and feel ready to challenge your current understanding, or if you are simply curious about how ancient texts apply to modern life in Bengaluru, these workshops are the bridge. We don't chase perfect poses; we chase understanding. It is about quietening the mind, listening, and eventually, taking that stillness home with you. Please reach out to ask about our upcoming guest schedule or to request a specific topic you would like us to host.

I started this shala to build a home, not a gym. When I invite teachers like Suvir or Tara to lead these deep dives, it is because I deeply respect their path and want our community to experience the richness of the traditions they carry.
