I create a sanctuary where children explore mindfulness through music, movement, and play. It is never about perfection or poses; it is about finding stillness, joy, and their own natural rhythm in a pressure-free space.

Meet the wonderful teachers of our Kids Music and Meditation workshop. Divya and Gautam Shenoy bring their expertise in Hindustani and Western classical music to guide children on a magical journey of sound, stillness, and joy.

A moment from our Music and Meditation workshop, where children are gathered to learn about pitch, rhythm, and melody. The session is interactive, allowing kids to experience music as a doorway to presence.

Here, the workshop transforms into an impromptu singing session. The joy in the room is palpable as children express themselves freely, reminding us that mindfulness can be found in laughter and song.

A teacher gently encourages a young boy to share his voice. My workshops are about creating a safe space where every child feels seen, heard, and confident enough to participate in their own way.

I love these moments of connection with the children. Here, we are gathered around the harmonium, exploring sound together. Teaching yoga and mindfulness to kids is one of the greatest gifts of my work.

The children of our shala celebrating the arrival of a new Shakyamuni Buddha statue. They decorated the idol with flowers, a beautiful and spontaneous expression of reverence and joy.

Another view of the children gathered around the Buddha statue. In these simple acts, they learn about peace, respect, and the beauty of shared celebration.

A moment of gratitude at the end of a workshop. We thank our guest teachers for sharing their time and wisdom, and for creating such a loving and open space for the children to learn and grow.

About Mindfulness for Children

In our workshops, we use pitch, rhythm, and melody as gentle gateways to stillness. I avoid the pressure of performance or rigid discipline; instead, we allow joy to emerge through song and play, creating a safe environment where your child can simply be themselves.

A Space to Simply Be

My shala is a kula—a home for your child’s practice, not a studio focused on performance. When children enter this space, the first thing they learn is that there is no 'right' way to sit or breathe. We remove the pressure of expectation, allowing them to engage with mindfulness in ways that feel natural.

The Role of Music and Sound

Mindfulness for children often feels abstract, so I bring in music to make it tangible. Collaborating with trained musicians, we explore the connection between sound and silence. Whether it is a Kirtan circle or a guided meditation session, we use the harmonium, piano, and vocal exploration to help children connect with their inner world. It is not a music class, but an experiment in presence—finding where the sound ends and the stillness begins.

Inclusive and Mindful Growth

I am committed to making these sessions accessible for every child, including those who are neurodivergent. We do not demand stillness; we cultivate it. By integrating creative movement, art, and storytelling, we help children build focus and emotional regulation at their own pace. These workshops are held in our dedicated shala in JP Nagar, designed to be sensory-friendly and welcoming.

My Approach to Teaching

  • No Performance: We do not focus on how the yoga looks, but how it feels.
  • Inclusive Practice: Every child, regardless of ability, is welcome and supported.
  • Community Focus: We learn together, often ending sessions with shared rituals that teach gratitude and respect for one another.

I have been practicing since 2006, and my shala in JP Nagar is built on the belief that yoga is a journey of self-discovery, not a workout. I don't chase perfection here; I simply invite your child to show up as they are, learn, share, and grow with our community.
