About Yin Yoga: The Practice of Stillness

Many students arrive expecting a light stretch, but our training dives deep into functional anatomy and skeletal variation. We teach you exactly how to use bolsters, blocks, and straps to modify poses for different body types, ensuring safety for every student. Expect to explore the emotional side of stillness, too—learning how to hold space for yourself and others when the mind gets quiet.

At my Mysore shala, Yin Yoga is not just passive stretching; it is an active study of the fascia and deep connective tissue. We move beyond the surface level to understand why we hold physical tension and how to release it safely.

The Curriculum

Our 50-hour Yin Yoga Teacher Training is a focused, 8-10 day intensive designed for both existing teachers and dedicated practitioners. We cover:

  • Functional Anatomy: Understanding the biological difference between tension and compression in various postures.
  • Meridian Theory: Integrating Traditional Chinese Medicine concepts to understand and balance the body's energy pathways.
  • Prop Mastery: Skillful use of bolsters, wheels, and straps to support deep, long-held postures.
  • Sequencing: How to craft 60-minute classes that guide students from initial grounding to deep surrender.

The Experience

This is a residential program located in the heart of Gokulam. You will live and practice alongside a community of seekers from around the world. We practice daily, study philosophy in the afternoons, and share sattvic vegetarian meals together. Whether you are aiming to teach professionally or simply looking to integrate stillness into your personal life, this training offers the space to quiet the noise and reconnect.

I’m Srinatha. I’ve spent three decades on the mat, and I believe Yin is the medicine our fast-paced lives desperately need. Come sit with us in Mysore; we’ll get quiet, use a few props, and learn how to truly let go.
