By removing visual input, we force the brain to rely on proprioception—your body's ability to sense its position in space. Whether you are holding Vasisthasana (Side Plank) or Anjaneyasana (Low Lunge) in the dark, you will find that your balance and core stability improve dramatically once your eyes are closed.
