About The Swarveni Baithak: Intimate Concerts

You won't find microphones filtering out the raw emotion here. At our baithaks, we remove the distance of a formal concert hall by seating you on the floor alongside the artists. It is a space where you hear the subtle breath of the vocalist and the quiet resonance of the tanpura, allowing the raga to settle into your consciousness just as it was meant to be experienced.

In the fast-paced life of Delhi, finding a moment of stillness is rare. Our baithaks in Rohini are designed to offer exactly that—a pause in time where music is treated with the respect of a prayer. When you attend, you are not just an audience member; you are part of a shared experience. We intentionally keep the gatherings intimate to maintain the sanctity of the Guru-Shishya Parampara, ensuring you can observe the intricate finger movements of a tabla player or the nuanced expressions of a vocalist without a screen in between.

We host a variety of artists—from sarod and rabab maestros to vocalists exploring everything from seasonal Malhar ragas to traditional Thumris. The setting is simple: floor seating, traditional mats, and an atmosphere free from the noise of modern life. Whether you are a student of music or someone simply looking to understand the depth of our heritage, these sessions offer a direct window into the soul of Hindustani classical music. We encourage you to come with an open mind, ready to listen and absorb, as we delve into the philosophy behind the melody.
