Our annual music showcase where students from age seven to seventy bring Hindustani classical ragas to life with professional live accompaniment.

A glimpse of the Swarveni Utsav 2025, where our young maestros performed for seven straight hours after a month of rigorous practice. The event concludes with a group photo of our proud performers.

Here are some highlights from the Swarveni Utsav 2023. It shows the range of performances, from our youngest students to more advanced learners, all sharing the stage.

About Swarveni Utsav: Our Students Take the Stage

It is not enough to learn a raga in the safety of a classroom. The true test comes when you sit before an audience. At the Swarveni Utsav, I prepare my students with 4 to 6 intensive band rehearsals, ensuring they are not just hitting the right notes but finding the bhaav (emotion) under the pressure of a live stage.

Every year, the Swarveni Utsav serves as the heartbeat of Swarveni Gurukul. I do not believe in superficial stage performances where the soul is missing. For weeks before the event, we conduct rigorous training sessions that go beyond mere singing.

My students, ranging from young children to seniors, rehearse with professional Tabla and Harmonium players. This is a vital part of their training because a vocalist must learn to communicate with their accompanist in real-time, just as the masters do. We focus on stage etiquette, microphone technique, and, most importantly, the mental fortitude to stay calm when the lights go on.

We feature performances from students of all skill levels. Some are presenting their very first bhajan, while others are exploring complex ragas. This stage is not for perfection; it is for honest expression. Seeing a student find their voice, and more importantly, seeing them pour their emotion into a composition after months of hard work, is why I teach. When you attend or participate in our Utsav, you are not just watching a show; you are witnessing a moment of growth in a student's musical journey.

I am Pt. Ashish Narayan Tripathi. For me, music is a spiritual practice, not just a skill. I invite you to see our students perform; each one carries the legacy of the Guru-Shishya tradition I uphold.
