About Hindustani Vocal Music Classes
Why I Teach
Music, for me, is not just a hobby - it’s a spiritual journey. I see it as sadhana, a daily practice that helps you tap into your creativity and feel something deeper through the twelve swaras. My goal is to help you find real joy in this tradition, whether you’re just starting out or want to sharpen your skills.
What We Cover
We start from scratch, with a strong focus on:
- Swaras & Raagas: I’ll help you understand how notes and melodies work together.
- Taalas: You’ll get comfortable with rhythmic cycles.
- Vocal Discipline: Expect slow, steady practice to develop your voice - not shortcuts.
But technique isn’t everything. I always ask, “Jo line gaa rahe ho, usme bhaav hai ya nahi?” (Is there feeling in your singing or not?). Without emotion, music feels flat. We spend time making sure your singing feels real.
You’ll learn all kinds of traditional pieces - bhajans, ghazals, festival songs like Holi and Basant.
How I Teach
I stick to the Guru-Shishya tradition, which means discipline and respect, but I’m not super strict. My style is personal, with lots of patience and one-on-one time. Kids (7+), teens, adults - all are welcome.
Opportunities
You’ll have chances to perform at our Swarveni Utsav and monthly Baithak, plus prep for exams like Prayag Sangeet Samiti and music contests.
Class Options

My Story
Namaskar, main Ashish Narayan Tripathi. Swarveni Gurukul for me is not just a place, it's home. Yahan pe music sirf hobby nahi hai, yeh toh poori zindagi hai. Guru-Shishya parampara mein hum music ko ek sadhana mante hain. Baithaks karte hain, jahan har sur, har bhaav ko mehsoos kar sakte ho. Mere bete Suramya bhi isi raaste pe hai, aur mujhe garv hai yeh sab share karne mein. Aap bhi aaiye, humare is musical safar ka hissa baniye.
My Work
