As is our tradition, the workshop began with the lighting of the lamp and paying respects to the great masters of music.

I had the honor of felicitating Pandit Devendra Verma for sharing his invaluable time and knowledge with our students.

About Workshops with Visiting Maestros

These sessions are held in our Gurukul, not a lecture hall. We sit close to the masters, with no podiums or distant stages. It is just you, the Guru, and the music. Whether we are dissecting the mathematics of a Taal or exploring the monsoon melodies of a Raga, the focus remains on personal connection and the 'bhaav' or emotion within every note.

Learning Directly from the Source

At Swarveni Gurukul, we believe the best way to understand Hindustani classical music is to observe the masters up close. Our visiting maestro workshops are designed to break the barrier between audience and artist. When a senior Vidushi or Maestro sits amidst us, you get to witness the minute nuances—the tilt of the head, the breath control, the subtle shift in raga structure—that you simply cannot learn from a video.

We keep the group size small intentionally. This ensures that you are not just an observer, but a participant. You can ask questions about specific Bandishes or seek clarification on Riyaz techniques directly from the experts. We have hosted stalwarts like Pandit Devendra Verma, focusing on everything from Thumri appreciation to the intricacies of Tala.

What to Expect

  • Traditional Ambience: We create an authentic Baithak setting with floor seating, incense, and a warm, meditative atmosphere.
  • Hands-On Insight: These are not lectures; they are interactive demonstrations. Bring your questions about gharana aesthetics or Raga nuances.
  • Full Support: Every session includes live accompaniment by professional Tabla and Harmonium artists to provide real-time context to the theory being discussed.

If you have been struggling to move past the basics or feel your practice lacks 'rasa' (essence), these sessions provide the guidance needed to deepen your musical journey. Check our schedule for upcoming dates in Rohini.

I am Pt. Ashish Narayan Tripathi. For me, these workshops are about continuing the Guru-Shishya Parampara by opening our doors to experts who have dedicated their lives to this sadhana. Come sit with us, listen closely, and let the music speak to you.
