We believe in sowing the seeds of mindfulness early. Our family retreats blend the structure of traditional Sivananda yoga with the joy of summer camp, creating a space for children and parents to connect through movement, play, and nature.

This collage captures the vibrant energy of our kids and parents summer retreat. It is a unique program that combines yoga, games, art, and nature to create a memorable holiday for the entire family.

Two girls practice a partner boat pose, building core strength and balance together. The smiles on their faces show the pure joy that yoga can bring.

Young boys work together in a partner fish pose. These activities teach them cooperation and the fun of practicing with a friend.

A creative and challenging double plank pose by two young girls at our summer retreat. We encourage children to explore their strength and creativity in a safe environment.

Coloring and learning asanas is a favorite activity at our kids' yoga retreats. It is a creative and meditative way for children to familiarise themselves with different yoga postures.

Children lie on the floor, focused on coloring sheets that depict various yoga poses like Warrior and Tree pose. This helps them learn the names and shapes of asanas in a fun way.

A young girl carefully colors a picture of the boat pose. This quiet activity helps develop concentration and reinforces their learning from the asana classes.

Young students enjoy a moment of creative expression, coloring pictures of asanas like Happy Baby pose. Art and yoga are wonderful tools for mindful development.

About Yoga for the Young and Young at Heart

We do not just teach asanas; we use creative tools to make the philosophy stick for young minds. You will see children coloring worksheets of Warrior or Tree pose while learning their names, and practicing partner stretches that build trust and physical coordination. It is less about achieving a perfect posture and more about cultivating a shared sense of peace and fun within our community.

Our Approach to Family Yoga

Our approach to children's yoga is rooted in the Sivananda lineage, adapted specifically for young minds. Children have abundant energy, so we channel it through 'karma yoga' and playful, interactive movement. We use coloring worksheets as a meditative bridge—when a child colors a drawing of a 'Boat pose,' they visualize the shape before they perform it. This turns abstract concepts into tangible play.

The Retreat Experience

During our retreats, such as our summer camp in Palampur, the day follows a specific rhythm. We balance active asana sessions with quiet time, nature walks, and storytelling. This helps children develop focus and patience without the pressure of a traditional classroom setting. We also introduce kids to basic pranayama (breathing) in a way that feels natural, helping them manage their own stress levels early in life.

Why Practice Together?

The best way to teach yoga is through example. When parents join in—participating in chants, sitting for meditation, and attempting partner poses—the child feels supported. It changes the dynamic from 'parent telling child what to do' to 'family learning together.' These retreats are a break from the digital world, allowing families to bond in a screen-free environment.

Certification and Growth

Every retreat concludes with a 'Little Yogis Graduation.' It is a proud moment where children receive a certificate for their week of effort, laughter, and new friendships. Whether it is their first time on a mat or they are regulars in our Gurgaon classes, these camps are designed to foster a lifelong love for health and mindfulness. If you are curious about our upcoming batches or want to see if our retreat schedule aligns with your holidays, please reach out. We are happy to walk you through our daily routine.

I have been teaching for over 30 years, and I have seen how transformative it is when families practice together. My goal is to create a 'sangha'—a community—where the discipline of yoga feels like home, not a chore. We keep it simple, honest, and traditional.
