About Creative Expression & Play
We often think yoga is just about the mat, but in these sessions, we use art and movement to let go of what we are holding onto. You will paint, move, and find your own flow without judgment, creating what I call 'glimmers'—small, tangible moments of joy that help us reset and come back to our center.
When I transitioned from the corporate world to teaching, I realised that our healing requires more than just asanas. We need space to be messy, to be playful, and to express what words cannot. In our Creative Expression & Play sessions at ONENESS Rishikesh, we integrate art therapy and free movement into our daily practice to access deeper layers of the self.
Why Art and Play?
Often, we store stress and emotions in the body. Traditional practice helps, but adding creative expression acts as a release valve. You do not need to be an artist; you just need to be willing to engage with the process. Whether we are painting during an art therapy workshop or moving intuitively to music, the goal is not a perfect result but a feeling of release.
How We Integrate It
Each day includes structured and free-flow elements:
- Art Therapy: Using simple supplies to map out our inner world.
- Free Movement: Letting the body lead to release stuck energy.
- Sharing Circles: Connecting with the 'sangha' to process our experiences together.
This approach helps you break free from rigid expectations, both on the mat and in life. We create a safe environment where you can shed the serious layers and simply be. If you are feeling stuck or looking for a way to deepen your practice beyond physical postures, this is where you start to find that balance.
