Yogic Cleansing & Kriya Techniques for Internal Health
We go beyond just asanas. Learn powerful traditional techniques like Jal Neti and Agnisar to detox, improve digestion, and balance your energy under expert guidance.
Delhi ki garmi se bachne ke liye, try these cooling pranayamas. In this 3-minute routine, I teach Ida Nadi breathing, Sheetali, and Sheetkari to help you beat the heat, stay hydrated, and maintain a low body temperature.
Today's teaching at the studio was Shatkarma, specifically Jal Neti. This ancient yogic cleansing technique uses saline water to purify the nasal passages, which can help with allergies, sinus issues, and respiratory health.
Just as brushing is for dental hygiene, Jal Neti is for nasal hygiene. This humble kriya has numerous benefits but should always be performed under an expert's guidance to ensure it is done correctly and safely.
This is a demonstration of Agnisar Kriya from an online session. This powerful practice involves rapid contractions of the abdominal muscles, acting as an internal massage to stimulate digestion, boost metabolism, and strengthen the core.
About Yogic Cleansing & Breathing (Kriya & Pranayama)
Many students come to me thinking they can learn Jal Neti or Agnisar from a quick video. Please do not. These are powerful internal cleanses; doing them without hands-on guidance can cause more harm than good. In my studio, I watch your technique closely, ensuring your posture is right, the water temperature is perfect, and your abdominal contractions are safe, so you actually get the benefits, not a bad experience.
Kriya and Pranayama are the foundations of a clean system. If your stomach is heavy, your nose is blocked, or your mind feels cluttered, asanas alone won't fix it. You need to clear the pipes.
Why Practice With Me?
I have been teaching these techniques in Rajouri Garden for over two decades. I do not just show you how to do them; I explain the 'why'.
- Jal Neti (Nasal Cleansing): Think of this as brushing your teeth, but for your nasal passages. It is essential for anyone dealing with Delhi's pollution, sinusitis, or frequent colds. I ensure you use the right saline concentration and posture so you don't end up with water in the wrong place.
- Agnisar Kriya: This is my go-to for digestion. By repeatedly contracting your abdominal muscles, you stimulate the digestive fire (Agni). It is excellent for metabolism and core strength, but you must know the contraindications. If you have back pain or high blood pressure, you should avoid it—I will guide you on safer alternatives.
- Pranayama (Breathwork): We do not just breathe. We use Sheetali and Sheetkari (cooling breaths) to combat Delhi's intense summer heat or anxiety, and Nadi Shodhana to balance the nervous system.
These practices are not just for the mat. They are tools to help you manage your health daily. My studio is equipped for these specific practices, and in our sessions, I ensure you feel confident enough to continue them at home safely.
