Hatha & Iyengar-Inspired Yoga: Precision and Alignment

Yoga is not about the perfect pose; it is about showing up for yourself. In my Mysore shala, we use Hatha and Iyengar principles to build strength, refine your alignment, and bring mindfulness to every movement.

With careful guidance and the support of the wall, a student explores a deep backbend in this Hatha class. My hands-on adjustments ensure safety while encouraging openness.

In our Iyengar-style workshops, we break down foundational poses like Trikonasana (Triangle Pose). Here, you can see how we use props and adjustments to refine alignment for students at all levels.

Hatha mornings in the studio are about grounding and intention. This clip shows me demonstrating how to use a chair for a deep backbend, followed by students using the wall for support in their practice.

Hatha yoga is the union of strength and softness. In our TTC, we explore how to embody and share this balance, using props like blocks to support students in their practice.

A morning Hatha class flow, moving from standing forward folds to inversions like Sirsasana (Headstand). Each breath guides the movement, creating a mindful and energizing practice.

This Hatha flow incorporates a chair to build strength and flexibility. The sequence demonstrates how simple props can transform a practice, making it both challenging and supportive.

A truly amazing Hatha class where we focus on the balance of strength, alignment, and breath. This is where you come to understand the depth of traditional yoga.

About this collection

When you practice here, expect to use props like wall ropes, chairs, and belts. They are not crutches; they are tools that allow you to hold an asana longer, breathe more deeply, and align your body safely. Whether you are a beginner or looking to refine your form, these tools help you find the space within a pose that your body might otherwise miss.

Building a Foundation

My teaching in Gokulam is rooted in the idea that yoga should meet you where you are today, not where you hope to be tomorrow. By drawing on Hatha and Iyengar traditions, we focus on the structural integrity of your practice. We move with purpose, ensuring that every extension and fold serves your long-term health rather than just a fleeting aesthetic.

The Role of Props

In these sessions, props are fundamental. Using an industrial yoga chair for a backbend or wall ropes for traction allows for precise adjustments that are difficult to achieve on a flat mat alone. This approach is particularly effective for those managing stiff joints or seeking to understand the biomechanics of a pose. It helps us remove the friction between your intention and your body's current capability.

Why Practice with Me

  • Structured Alignment: We break down complex movements into smaller, manageable parts.
  • Safe Progression: By using supporting tools, we minimize the risk of injury and maximize your understanding of each muscle group.
  • Accessible for All: My shala welcomes everyone, from those dealing with limited mobility to seasoned practitioners looking to sharpen their technique.
  • Mysore Community: You are not just coming for a workout. You are joining a space where we share breath, rhythm, and the discipline of a daily practice.

Yoga is a journey of finding balance between strength and softness. Whether you join me for a drop-in session or commit to a monthly curriculum, my focus remains on guiding you toward a practice that is both intelligent and sustainable.
