Yoga is about connection, not perfection. In these sessions, we use props to make every asana accessible, safe, and aligned to your unique body.

Practicing handstands with my son using the wall for support is a perfect example of Iyengar yoga. It's about using what's available to build strength and trust, turning any space into a place for growth.

A glimpse into the variety at my studio. From using ropes for inversions to partner work and aerial silks for kids, we create a safe, non-judgmental space where every pose looks different on each student, and that's the beauty of it.

Our studio is always buzzing with energy and smiles. We use props like chairs for supported backbends and standing poses, and bolsters for deeper stretches, always helping each other nail the alignment and find our flow.

Backbends are always a yes in my book. Here you can see how we use props like belts and the wall, as well as hands-on assistance, to safely open the spine and chest, making the practice beneficial for every body.

Using a yoga strap in Natarajasana (Dancer's Pose) helps to deepen the stretch in the shoulders and quadriceps while maintaining balance. This is a great example of how props assist in achieving correct form.

A yoga block is a simple but powerful tool. Here, it provides stability in Parivrtta Ardha Chandrasana (Revolved Half Moon Pose), allowing the student to focus on the spinal twist and opening the chest.

Garudasana, or Eagle Pose, is a challenging balance that also opens the shoulder and hip joints. Practicing this in class helps improve focus and stability, and we always find a way to make it work for everyone.

Salamba Sirsasana (Supported Headstand) against the window, finding a moment of calm inversion. This pose is the king of asanas for its benefits on circulation, focus, and core strength.

A student using a wooden block for support in a revolved balancing pose. This demonstrates how props in Iyengar yoga are not a crutch, but a way to intelligently access deeper alignment and expression in an asana.

Students in a lunge variation, preparing for deeper hip openers. The focus here is on grounding through the feet and lengthening the spine, setting a strong foundation for the practice ahead.

About Iyengar Yoga: The Art of Alignment

You will notice we don't just use mats here. We have a dedicated rope wall for spinal traction and plenty of wooden blocks and chairs. These aren't crutches; they are the tools that let you find your alignment safely, regardless of your flexibility or experience level. Think of it as intelligence in movement—we are working on the structure of your body, not just holding a pose.
