Iyengar Yoga: The Art of Alignment

Yoga is about connection, not perfection. In these sessions, we use props to make every asana accessible, safe, and aligned to your unique body.

Practicing handstands with my son using the wall for support is a perfect example of Iyengar yoga. It's about using what's available to build strength and trust, turning any space into a place for growth.

A glimpse into the variety at my studio. From using ropes for inversions to partner work and aerial silks for kids, we create a safe, non-judgmental space where every pose looks different on each student, and that's the beauty of it.

Our studio is always buzzing with energy and smiles. We use props like chairs for supported backbends and standing poses, and bolsters for deeper stretches, always helping each other nail the alignment and find our flow.

Backbends are always a yes in my book. Here you can see how we use props like belts and the wall, as well as hands-on assistance, to safely open the spine and chest, making the practice beneficial for every body.

Using a yoga strap in Natarajasana (Dancer's Pose) helps to deepen the stretch in the shoulders and quadriceps while maintaining balance. This is a great example of how props assist in achieving correct form.

A yoga block is a simple but powerful tool. Here, it provides stability in Parivrtta Ardha Chandrasana (Revolved Half Moon Pose), allowing the student to focus on the spinal twist and opening the chest.

Garudasana, or Eagle Pose, is a challenging balance that also opens the shoulder and hip joints. Practicing this in class helps improve focus and stability, and we always find a way to make it work for everyone.

About this collection

You will notice we don't just use mats here. We have a dedicated rope wall for spinal traction and plenty of wooden blocks and chairs. These aren't crutches; they are the tools that let you find your alignment safely, regardless of your flexibility or experience level. Think of it as intelligence in movement—we are working on the structure of your body, not just holding a pose.

Why Iyengar Yoga Works

Iyengar yoga is often misunderstood as 'slow' or 'boring,' but when you are actually in it, you realize it is the most intense, intelligent work you can do for your body. By focusing on precision and using props like chairs, belts, and the rope wall, we can hold poses longer. This gives your muscles time to release and your nervous system time to settle.

Your Practice, Your Way

Whether you are a runner dealing with tight hamstrings, someone recovering from a back issue, or a complete beginner who thinks they aren't 'flexible enough' for yoga, this is for you.

  • Rope Wall Sessions: We use Yoga Kurunta ropes to decompress the spine. It feels incredible after a long week of sitting at a desk.
  • Prop-Based Learning: Blocks and belts aren't just for support; they teach your body the correct geometry of a pose so you can build strength without strain.
  • The Studio Vibe: Our Lavelle Road rooftop studio is semi-open. You get fresh air, natural light, and a non-judgmental community. We laugh, we wobble, and we grow together. It is a space where the ego is left at the door.

Who This Is For

If you want to move away from the 'fitness' aspect and toward a sustainable, lifetime practice, come join us. We look at alignment as a path to health, not just a way to make a pose look good for a photo. Zindagi se pyaar karo—see you on the mat.
