Aerial yoga isn’t just movement, it’s flight and freedom. Wrapped in silk, we learn to trust, let go, and rise, one inversion at a time.

About this collection

Aerial yoga is not just about the inversion poses you see in the images. At my Mysore shala, we use the hammocks primarily as a support tool to deepen your hip and hamstring mobility or to provide spinal traction that is hard to achieve on the floor. If you have back stiffness or are looking to build functional core strength without heavy weights, this equipment provides the lift you need to access deeper ranges of motion safely.

Beyond the Inversions

Many people come to aerial yoga for the fun of flipping upside down. While that freedom of movement is a part of it, my classes focus on the functional benefits of suspension. We use the silks to support body weight, allowing us to hold poses longer and find space in the vertebrae that gravity often compresses. It is particularly effective for those dealing with chronic tightness in the hips or lower back.

My Teaching Approach

I bring the same rigor to the aerial silk as I do to the floor mat. You will learn the mechanics of the hammock, how to trust the fabric, and, most importantly, how to exit a pose with control. Whether you are in a beginner flow or an advanced teacher training module, the focus remains on breath and alignment, not just the aesthetic of the pose.

What to Expect in Class

We operate out of my Gokulam studio, where we have high-load bearing equipment. My batches are kept small so I can offer manual adjustments, ensuring you understand the engagement needed in your core before you attempt deeper inversions. We also use props like blocks in conjunction with the hammock to isolate muscles, especially when we are working on leg strength or balance.

Is it for you?

You do not need to be an acrobat to start. We meet you where you are, using the hammock to take the pressure off your joints. If you are curious, I recommend starting with a drop-in session. It is the best way to feel the difference between a floor-based practice and the suspended approach.

I am Srinatha. I have spent 30 years on the mat, and I still find the same joy in teaching aerial silk as I do with a classic Hatha pose. My shala is a space to explore, fall, and find your balance—whether you are hanging from the ceiling or sitting on a chair.
