My Personal Yoga Journey: Finding Balance in Delhi

I am a firm believer that the messy parts of practice are just as important as the perfect poses. Here is a peek into the journey, the wobbles, and the real milestones that define my approach to movement.

A look back at my commitment to 108 Suryanamaskars every month. I may have missed a couple of months, but I'm still proud of the journey. It's about progress, not perfection.

Here are some steps that helped me cultivate a consistent yoga practice. It begins with a conscious intention to practice with intelligence and inner compassion.

Sun, sea, and a little asana. A moment of peace and connection on a boat, finding my center with a seated lotus pose.

Celebrating Mahashivratri and International Women's Day. This day reminds me of the divine feminine energy that nurtures, empowers, and inspires our souls.

A silhouette of a standing split on the beach at sunset. Moments like these make me dream of planning my next yoga retreat in a tropical paradise.

Wishing everyone a Happy Diwali. May this festival of lights bring positivity and happiness into your life. Here I am celebrating with an inversion by the pool.

About this collection

My background as a ballerina taught me intense discipline, but yoga taught me how to actually rest. When you join my class, you will see me practice alongside you, wobbles and all. I track my consistency not by how many advanced postures I can hold, but by how often I show up to my mat, even on the days I feel uninspired. If you are looking for a space where you can laugh when you fall and learn to listen to your own body, you are in the right place.

My path to becoming a yoga teacher was not a straight line. It started with fifteen years in ballet studios, focusing on rigid structure and technical precision. While that gave me the foundation for understanding movement, it wasn't until I turned to yoga and sound healing that I learned the value of 'Yogascapes'—my own term for integrating movement with mindfulness.

Why Practice With Me?

Whether we are working at boutique studios like IFBC in Saket or BoulderBox in Vasant Kunj, my goal is the same: to create a safe environment where you don't feel judged. In my group mat classes, we limit batches to 8-15 students to ensure I can give everyone proper attention. I don't believe in yoga robots. I believe in people who have good days and bad days, tight hips, and busy schedules.

My Approach to Movement

  • Consistency over Intensity: You will see photos of me doing 108 Suryanamaskars on my feed. I share these not to show off, but to show that even I miss months or have off-days. We focus on showing up.
  • Ballet-Influenced Alignment: I use my ballet training to help you with micro-corrections and toe alignment, ensuring you build strength without strain.
  • Adapting to You: From aerial yoga to prenatal sessions or private hormone therapy at your home, I tailor sequences to what your body needs that day, not what a textbook says it should do.

Yoga in Delhi shouldn't feel like another high-pressure appointment on your calendar. It should feel like a relief. If you are ready to stop comparing yourself to others and start building a practice that actually works for your life, let’s start there.

Hi, I am Surbhi. I spent fifteen years teaching ballet before falling in love with the quieter, deeper process of yoga. I live for the process—wobbly days, sunshine, and my dog, Stella, supervising every pose I attempt.
