My Journey: The Path of a Modern Yogi
I wasn't born calm, and I didn't start yoga to teach. I started because I was lost. This is the story of how I found my purpose, built Yoga Dhara, and stopped chasing aesthetics to start chasing truth.
Why did I build my first yoga studio? Because I was lost in dogma and needed to find my own truth. Yoga Dhara is a studio for warriors, a space for transformation, built not on beliefs but on direct experience.
My Guru changed my life. I remember practicing with him on rainy days when no one else showed up. This image shows an intense assisted backbend, a glimpse into the discipline he instilled in me.
"Wapas nahi aana hai!" (Don't come back!) My Guru would shout this as I held a difficult pose. His intensity taught me to push beyond my perceived limits, like in this deep assisted Dhanurasana (Bow Pose).
Partner work was a huge part of my training. Here, my Guru uses his body weight to help me deepen a backbend against the wall, a technique that requires immense trust and surrender.
Another moment of intense training with my Guru. Using a chair and blocks, he guides me into a deep variation of Scorpion Pose, demanding perfect alignment and unwavering focus.
This assisted pose, a variation of Eka Pada Rajakapotasana, shows the level of strength and trust required in my training. My Guru's guidance was never soft, but it was always transformative.
Using props to explore deeper stretches. My Guru assists me in a seated side bend, teaching me how to use tools to work on flexibility safely and effectively.
This was a dream manifested: teaching yoga to a group of seekers from the USA. Here, I am assisting a student in a supported headstand, a moment that felt both thrilling and terrifying.
A moment of shared stillness with my international students. Leading them in meditation in this beautiful outdoor setting was a reminder that the peace of yoga transcends all cultures and languages.
Guiding a student from the USA through a balancing pose using a chair for support. My goal was to give them an authentic, deep experience of yoga on their spiritual journey through India.
About My Journey: The Path of a Modern Yogi
I didn't build this studio on marketing or hype; I built it on the discipline I learned during the quiet, rainy days practicing with my Guru. If you look at these images, you won't see filtered, perfect Instagram shots. You will see sweat, assisted wall-rope stretches, and the raw work required to move past ego and actually heal. This is the reality of my training—not just as a teacher, but as someone who had to break his own illusions first.
The Struggle and The Shift
Before the studio, I was chasing the gym-bodybuilding lifestyle. I thought looking strong meant I was strong. But underneath, I was burnt out, angry, and directionless. Chasing aesthetics broke me. It was only when I stopped performing and started practicing—really practicing, with intensity and focus—that I found stability. Yoga stopped being an exercise and became my lifeline.
Learning at the Source
The images you see here aren't staged. They are moments from my years of training under my Guru, Nishant Sir. Whether it was assisted backbends, Scorpion Pose drills using chairs, or intense alignment corrections, he taught me one thing: Wapas nahi aana hai (Don't come back). He didn't offer soft, feel-good sessions. He offered a mirror. He pushed me to hold poses when my mind wanted to quit. That discipline is the foundation of every session at Yoga Dhara in Rohini.
Why Yoga Dhara is Different
I don’t cater to those looking for a quick fix or a trend. My classes in Rohini and my online sessions are for seekers. We use traditional tools like wall-mounted Iyengar ropes for spinal traction and therapeutic work. We prioritize manual adjustments and posture correction over 'flowy' movements that look good but do nothing for your alignment.
The Path Forward
I teach to help you navigate your own chaos. Whether you are dealing with chronic cervical pain, crippling anxiety, or just the feeling that you are running in circles, my approach is practical. We use Asanas for strength, Pranayama for the mind, and diet/lifestyle advice to sustain it. If you are ready to put in the work and stop avoiding your own mind, you are in the right place.
