Nature amplifies the practice. These are glimpses of my own journey, moving from the studio mat to the open meadows of Khajjiar to find real stillness.

Practicing Utthita Hasta Padangusthasana (Extended Hand-to-Big-Toe Pose) next to a magnificent Deodar tree in Khajjiar, the mini Switzerland of India.

Finding balance on a tree stump in Khajjiar. This is Virabhadrasana III (Warrior III), a pose that challenges stability and focus, made even more special by the surrounding nature.

A moment of meditation in Padmasana (Lotus Pose) amidst the serene pine forests of Khajjiar. There is no better place to connect with your inner self than in the lap of nature.

Performing Natarajasana (Dancer's Pose) in the beautiful meadows of Khajjiar. The fresh mountain air and open space make every breath and movement feel more alive.

As Premanand Maharaj says, waking up early and greeting the sun is vital for our energy and health. Here I am practicing Surya Namaskar outdoors, absorbing the first rays of the sun.

A moment of surrender, floating in a river. This image reflects Osho's teachings on fasting and letting go, allowing the body's natural intelligence to take over.

About Outdoor Yoga & Nature

Moving the practice outdoors isn't just about the scenery, it's about changing your perspective on what stillness feels like. When I practice in places like Khajjiar, the lack of studio walls forces me to ground myself differently—the wind, the uneven ground, and the sheer scale of the landscape make simple asanas like Virabhadrasana III or Padmasana feel completely new. It strips away the comfort of my studio setup and leaves me with nothing but the breath.

Beyond the Studio Walls

Yoga isn't meant to be locked in a room. While I love the focus we get in my Rohini studio, taking the practice outside—whether it's to the parks of Delhi or the pine forests of Himachal—brings a different kind of intensity to the work. It’s about being a 'sakshi' (witness) to the world around you.

The Source of Prana

When you practice Surya Namaskar under the open sky, you aren't just doing a workout; you are acknowledging the source of our Prana. It’s a concept I often discuss in my classes, inspired by the teachings of Premanand Maharaj—the importance of greeting the sun, not just as a ritual, but as a reset for your energy.

Finding Stillness in Movement

I also use these environments to practice different forms of 'tapas' (discipline), like fasting and movement-based meditation. Letting the body float in a river or finding balance on a tree stump forces your core and your mind to sync up in ways a mat just can't replicate. It helps you drop the 'dopamine loops' we get stuck in during daily city life. If you're looking to take your practice beyond the mat, join one of my upcoming outdoor sessions or workshops. We’ll work on everything from alignment-based flow to deeper Pranayama, all while learning to use your environment as your biggest prop.

I’m Tushar. I built YogaDhara because I needed a place that didn't just feel like a gym, but like a home for anyone trying to heal or grow. I’ve been where you are—restless and lost—and I teach the tools that helped me find my footing again.
