Pottery is a Practice, Not Just a Product
At A Ware Studio, we believe clay is as much about shaping yourself as it is about shaping pots. Join our Indiranagar studio to slow down, get your hands dirty, and discover the rhythm of the wheel.
(Hero Media) At A Ware, we believe learning is a hands on, reflective journey. This video offers a glimpse into our teaching philosophy, where we move from understanding the 'why' to guided practice and thoughtful critique, ensuring every student finds their own rhythm with clay.
We are always exploring new ways to work with clay. This piece, with its beautiful, organic cracks, was the beginning of our first ever comprehensive hand building course, a new and deeply structured journey into form and creativity without the wheel.
From the first hesitant touch to the first finished forms, this is what a 50 hour journey at the wheel looks like. It’s a process of learning, unlearning, and discovering not just what clay can do, but what you can do with patience and practice.
Pottery can also be pure, playful joy. Our miniature food workshops are a chance to indulge your creativity, sculpting tiny, delightful meals from clay, from burgers to doughnuts, each one a small, handcrafted memory.
Our professional course is for those ready to build a serious, long term relationship with clay. It's an immersive path for anyone looking to pivot careers or make pottery their professional practice, equipping you with both craft and business skills.
The studio truly comes alive with the energy of our students. This is a peek into our weekend cohort, where hands grow steadier and forms become more intentional. It’s a space of quiet focus, shared learning, and mutual support.
Ügam, meaning 'emergence', is the celebration that marks the end of our professional course. It’s more than an exhibition; it’s a platform for our graduating potters to step into the world, showcasing their first collections and sharing their stories.
My own journey with clay is one of constant curiosity. This charcoal saggar fired piece inspired me to explore atmospheric firing techniques, reminding me that the limits we perceive are often just the beginning of a new exploration.
About Featured
Most studios focus on the end product, but we spend our time on the process. Whether you are joining our 50-hour wheel throwing course or a 4-hour themed session, we don't just show you how to throw clay. We guide you through the mechanics and the 'why' behind every movement, so you walk away understanding how to manipulate the material rather than just following steps.
Our Approach to Pottery
A Ware Studio is a place for quiet revolutions. We do not do crash courses or weekend-only gimmicks because we know that pottery is a craft that requires time, patience, and presence. Whether you are curious about the feel of wet clay or looking to build a professional career in ceramics, we have structured our paths to respect that journey.
The Learning Path
- For the Curious: Our 4-hour themed workshops (like miniature food sculpting or Kurinuki) are designed for those who want a taste of the craft. They are low-pressure, high-fun sessions perfect for a weekend.
- For the Dedicated: Our 50-hour wheel throwing course and 6-week hand-building course are immersive. We keep batch sizes small—capped at 6 to 10 students—to ensure that every person gets the guidance they need to move from hesitant first touches to steady, intentional forms.
- For the Professional: We run an intensive 1000-hour vocational mentorship. This is for those serious about pivoting careers. We cover glaze chemistry, production, and the business of pottery, culminating in your own exhibition, Ügam.
Why Practice Here?
Located in the heart of Indiranagar, Bengaluru, our studio is more than a classroom. It is a community space. When you join a course, you get access to the studio rhythm—the laughter, the shared focus, and the quiet moments where the only sound is the wheel spinning. We believe that by learning to sit with the clay, you learn to sit with yourself. We provide all the materials, firing, and glazing, so you can focus entirely on the practice of making. Whether you want to master the wheel or just need a reset from your daily grind, there is a seat waiting for you.
