Our Artisan Family & Community
We are more than a studio. We are a family of artisans, creators, and custodians of heritage, working together in our home by the lake since 1977.
The brilliant women who help run our studio. As a women-led business for 47 years, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and teamwork that defines our artisan family.

About Our Artisan Family & Community
Some of our master artisans have been with Tharangini for over 30 years, often training their own children in the craft. When you engage with our work, you are supporting a living lineage of skill where every hand-carved block and natural dye mix reflects a story passed down through generations. Our studio is not just a workspace, it is a shared space where history is kept alive by the people who know it best.
A Legacy of Skill
At Tharangini, we believe that the beauty of a textile comes from the hands that touched it. We are a second-generation, women-led studio, and our foundation is built on the strength and resilience of our artisan family. Many of our master printers have dedicated decades to this craft, and it is a point of pride that they are now training the next generation, including their own children, in the intricate arts of natural dyeing and block printing.
Inclusivity and Purpose
Our community extends beyond our immediate family. We are deeply proud of our ongoing outreach program with the Asha Foundation. By training and employing specially-abled artisans, we ensure that our studio remains a place of true inclusion. It is a vital part of our philosophy that craft should be accessible and empowering to everyone who has the heart for it.
Honoring Traditions
Life in our studio follows the rhythm of the seasons and our heritage. You will often find us celebrating days like Ayudha Pooja, where we honor the very tools that sustain us. It is a tradition our founder Lakshmi Srivatsa started, and we carry it forward by adorning our block-printing tables with flowers and gratitude.
Sustainability at Heart
Our commitment to the environment is as deep as our commitment to our people. We have worked hard to ensure our studio is carbon neutral for all current production processes. When you see our work, you are seeing a blend of vintage wood blocks from the 1960s paired with modern, ethical practices. It is a constant, evolving project that keeps us grounded in Bangalore's rich history while looking toward a cleaner future for fashion.
