A postcard from our studio, capturing the four pillars of our craft: the artisan's hand, the intricate carving, our vintage blocks, and the final printed textile. Best wishes from our family to yours.
A beautiful collection of block-printed fabric swatches curated by our client Susan. The mix of florals, geometrics, and stripes in vibrant colors perfectly complements a sunny day at our studio.
Spring has arrived at our studio! This video captures the season's energy, from vibrant floral prints on our tables to the fresh blooms in our garden and our artisans gathering flowers.
A look at our textile panels displayed at the PAMPA exhibition in Hampi. Our master printers recreated the intricate pillars of Hampi's temple architecture using a multi-layered block printing technique on handwoven fabric.
A moment from the opening of our exhibition with Bábbarra Designs. It was a joyous occasion, bringing together artists, carvers, and curators from both India and Australia to celebrate this labor of love.
The hands of our master printer at work on the PAMPA project, recreating the architectural details of Hampi's pillars onto fabric. This project was a beautiful tribute to Karnataka's rich textile and architectural heritage.
About Additional Work & Studio Life
When you step into our studio, you are not just seeing finished textiles. You are seeing a collaborative process. Whether we are recreating Hampi’s temple architecture for an exhibition or blending Aboriginal lino designs with our own woodblocks, every piece here is a dialogue between different cultures and techniques. If you have a creative project or a specific textile concept in mind, let us talk about how we can make it tangible.
Our studio in Sadashivnagar is not just a workspace. It is a 70-year-old family home where the surroundings directly influence our output. You might find our artisans grinding pigments from natural materials or experimenting with fresh plant resins, all while nature thrives in the garden around us. We believe in keeping the process transparent because that is where the value lies.
Beyond our daily printing, we engage in projects that push the boundaries of our craft. For instance, the PAMPA exhibition allowed us to recreate the intricate pillar details of Hampi temples on handwoven fabric, a task that required historical research and precise layering of up to 20 separate blocks. We also thrive on cross-cultural exchanges, such as our project with the Bábbarra Women’s Centre, where we translated Aboriginal art into woodblocks.
Whether we are working on custom textile production for a designer or running a workshop to teach block printing, our goal remains the same. We want to keep the heritage of Indian textiles alive through real, hands-on interaction. If you are interested in custom textile development or want to visit us to see the craft in person, we are always open to a conversation.
