About Custom Textile Development & Production
We’re Tharangini Studio, and textile is our family’s story. Since 1977, we’ve been all about handblock printing, keeping things organic and fair. For us, sustainable fabric production isn’t some buzzword - it’s just how we work, and we invite you to be part of that journey.
How We Co-Create
- I see this as a partnership, not just a service. Whether you’re a designer, brand, or artist, we work together to turn your sketches into hand-carved blocks (yep, our master artisans carve them from teak wood).
- We’ve done everything from 'sherni' tiger sarees to translating linoleum tile art from Australia into block prints.
- Design collaboration is constant - there’s loads of testing, sampling, and back-and-forth till it feels right.
Printing & Production
- We arrange motifs to suit your project, hand-mix colours so the palette works (even for tricky saree borders), and print on everything from silk and linen to velvet and corduroy.
- End uses? Apparel, home stuff, accessories, or even art panels for exhibitions. We handle boutique garment manufacturing too - shirts, sarees, whatever fits your vibe.
Materials & Process
- Only natural fabrics, always. I use GOTS organic dyes, natural dyeing techniques like Indian Madder, and sometimes discharge printing for cool effects.
- If you want inspiration, we have a private archive of vintage blocks, and love updating old motifs for new collections.
The Tharangini Touch
Every piece is made by our artisan family, many with decades of experience. It’s a bit of jugaad (flexible innovation) - mixing heritage and new ideas. We’re proud to keep this craft thriving, and grateful for everyone who joins us.

My Story
Hey, we’re Tharangini Studio. Our story started in 1977 with Lakshmi aunty, my mom, who built this place by the lake in Bangalore. It’s home, really. Our artisans, some here since day one, now work with their kids. It’s all about passing down skills, keeping it real. We’re woman-owned, everyone’s welcome, and nature’s our neighbor—turtles, flowers, the lot. That vibe runs through everything we do.
My Work
Handblock Printing & Wearable Art - We create bespoke handblock sarees, scarves, and fabrics. Each piece is made slow and with heart.
Eco-Friendly Dyes & Methods - We use organic natural dye textiles, grinding pigments by hand and working with plant resins—no shortcuts.
Heritage Wood Block Motifs - We have a huge archive of vintage wood blocks. Love mixing old motifs with new ideas.
Workshops & Collaboration - We run collaborative textile workshops and enjoy co-creating with designers and artists. Your vision, our craft.
Intentional Craftsmanship - From carving blocks to our multi-layered printing technique, every step is done with care. You get a keepsake, not just a product.
