My Journey: From Teaching to Handmade Art
After 27 years in a classroom, I turned to my first love: craft. With my daughter Sakshi, I build my days knot by knot, bringing traditional warmth into modern homes.
My daughter was so proud when I was invited to give a Josh Talk about my entrepreneurial journey. I shared my story of going from a history teacher to a macrame artist, and I hope it inspires other women to follow their passion.
This video tells the story of how I started my business. After 27 years of teaching, I rediscovered my love for craft during Covid, and with my daughter's help, turned it into a full-time venture that empowers me and other women.
A short video showing different moments of my life and work. From creating intricate crochet pieces to displaying my finished products, it's a small peek into the passion that drives me every day.
Being a home-based entrepreneur means juggling many roles. This video shows a glimpse of my daily routine, from managing household chores to preparing orders, taking online classes, and creating content for my page. It's a lot of work, but I love it.
This was a huge moment for me. From being a timid, stage-fearing girl, this experience of sharing my story gave me a new sense of confidence and self-trust. I am so thankful for all the support I have received on this journey.
About Our Story
Because I hand-craft every order myself from my home in Delhi, I prioritize quality over speed. Whether I am knotting a macrame wall shelf or crocheting a floral scarf, I take the time required to ensure the piece is sturdy and intentional. If you have a specific color or size in mind, I am here to work with you directly to make it happen.
For nearly three decades, I dedicated my life to teaching history and social science. While I loved my students, my heart was always pulled toward art and craft. During the lockdown, I finally took the leap to turn this long-held passion into a full-time venture. It was not an easy transition—at 59, stepping away from a secure job to learn macrame and crochet felt daunting—but it has been the most fulfilling chapter of my life.
My daughter, Sakshi, manages the business side of things, handling the digital space while I focus on the work itself. This partnership allows me to pour my energy into the actual labor of love: the knots, the stitches, and the design. We operate out of our home, keeping the process transparent and personal. When you order from me, you are not receiving a mass-produced item from a factory; you are getting a piece that was created patiently, one loop at a time.
I specialize in custom macrame decor, such as wall shelves and plant hangers, as well as crochet accessories and winter wear. I use premium cotton cords and quality yarn, focusing on geometric motifs and durable construction. My work has even taken me to platforms like Josh Talks, where I share my story to encourage other women to reclaim their creativity regardless of their age. If you are looking for handmade home decor in Delhi NCR or anywhere in India that feels personal, I would love to help you bring your ideas to life.
