About Our Story & Process
When you examine my work, look at the reverse side of the fabric. I teach my students that the back must be just as neat as the front—a true hallmark of authentic, traditional hand embroidery. It is this commitment to hidden quality that ensures your piece is not just beautiful, but crafted to last.
At the heart of Sameeksha lies a 1963 tailoring journal that belonged to my mother. Those delicate miniature garments and intricate embroidery samples were not just practice pieces; they were the foundation of my own journey. Today, I continue that legacy by teaching hand embroidery as a meditative practice rather than just a decorative task.
In a world dominated by mass production, my studio in Koramangala operates on a different rhythm. We prioritize slow fashion, where each saree, blouse, or accessory is individually conceptualized. You are involved in the design process—selecting colors and motifs that reflect your personality—ensuring the final product feels like a natural extension of yourself.
Whether you are joining me for a Kasuti workshop or commissioning a piece, the focus remains on the technique. We do not rush. We practice mindfulness, patience, and precise needlework. From teaching beginners to navigate a hoop to mastering complex Zardosi or Kantha stitches, my goal is to pass down these skills to the next generation, ensuring this heritage stays alive, one stitch at a time.
