About Collection Spotlights
Each collection here is a small-batch release, born from our studio’s archive of teak blocks dating back to the 1960s. Because we rely on natural dyes like indigo and pomegranate to print onto organic cotton and silk, no two pieces are identical. Once a collection is fully printed, that specific design story concludes, making every item a one-of-a-kind keepsake.
Songs of a Vintage Spring
Our 'Songs of a Vintage Spring' series is a perfect example of how we translate memories into fabric. We spent months selecting blocks from our archive, pairing them with fresh color palettes to capture the mood of Bangalore’s blossoms. It is a slow process; the printing happens right here in our garden studio, where we can watch the weather and the light to ensure the natural dyes set perfectly.
Why Our Process Matters
We do not chase trends. We follow the rhythm of our master craftspeople. Many of our team members have been with us for over three decades, and their hands are the soul of every saree and top you see here. We use a 14-step discharge printing technique, which is time-intensive but ensures the design becomes part of the fabric fiber, rather than sitting on top of it. This method ensures longevity, meaning these garments soften with every wash.
Sustainability at the Core
We hold a Gold Sustainability Standard, but for us, this is simply how we have always worked. From grinding pigments by hand to training specially-abled folks through our partnership with the Asha Foundation, our goal is to maintain a cycle of respect. When you choose a piece from our limited collections, you are supporting a production model that keeps traditional skills alive in our city.
Tharangini Studio
We are Tharangini, a second-generation, women-led studio based in a 70-year-old family home. We live by our heritage, working closely with our skilled family of printers to create textiles that honour the environment and the craft passed down to us.
