About Contemporary Apparel & Accessories
When we design these contemporary pieces, we focus on the rhythm of the fabric. Each garment uses a 14-step discharge printing process to embed the design directly into the fibers, meaning the print softens with every wash rather than cracking. We cut these pieces for natural movement, using French seams that ensure comfort against the skin throughout the day.
A Modern Take on Heritage
Our contemporary apparel collection is an extension of our studio's philosophy. We take the same vintage woodblocks used for our traditional sarees and apply them to modern, functional garments like shirts, vests, and dresses. This is how we keep our 1960s-era archives relevant, mixing historical South Indian motifs with comfortable, everyday silhouettes.
The Process
We do not believe in mass production. Every piece of clothing in this collection is printed in small batches at our Sadashivnagar studio. We use GOTS-certified organic dyes derived from ingredients like indigo, madder root, and pomegranate. Because we work with natural fabrics like organic cotton, linen, and bark cloth, the texture of the garment matures beautifully over time.
