About Featured
The pieces in this gallery demonstrate our signature approach to discharge printing, a technique that allows us to embed natural pigments directly into the fabric fibers. For items like the Nilā saree, this involves over 60 hours of manual effort, utilizing layered blocks and hand-cut stencils to achieve precise depth. We prioritize this slow, deliberate method to ensure that every floral motif or geometric pattern retains its vibrancy while remaining gentle on the environment.
Our studio is built on the belief that fashion should be a continuum of history and craft. Every item you see here is made within our family home in Sadashivnagar, utilizing a vast archive of vintage teak wood blocks that date back to the 1960s and 70s. We do not chase fast trends. Instead, we focus on the integrity of the material, using organic dyes derived from indigo, pomegranate, and madder root.
This collection highlights the versatility of our work, from lightweight linen sarees perfect for Bangalore summers to our intricate silk pieces meant for special occasions. The consistency in our quality comes from our master artisans, some of whom have been printing with us for over three decades. They are the true custodians of our legacy, passing their knowledge down to the next generation of printers.
We are also proud of our inclusive workspace, where we collaborate with the Asha Foundation to train and employ specially-abled artisans. This commitment to community is as central to our work as the prints themselves. Whether it is a hand-drawn tiger motif carved into wood or a delicate floral jaal, each step of the process is performed by hand. If you have questions about a specific design, the fabric weight, or how to care for these natural textiles, we are happy to share the story behind the piece.
