Iyengar Yoga and Therapeutic Training
Welcome to Yogakshema. My practice is built on the precision of the Iyengar method, using props to realign the body and release the mind. Whether you are dealing with chronic pain or looking for foundational strength, this is a path of science, not shortcuts.
Your spine is a direct reflection of your emotional state. A bow-shaped spine, what I call a 'dhanush', is not just physical stiffness; it's a sign of deep emotional blockages. I teach you to use yoga as 'Atma Darshan' or self-reflection, to confront these limitations and build the inner strength to change, because the real work begins when you are ready to face yourself.
This student came to me after years of suffering from chronic headaches and anxiety, relying on multiple medications just to get through the day. Even his allopathic doctor recognized that pills were not a long-term solution and recommended Iyengar yoga. This is not a miracle; it is the result of precise, dedicated practice that addresses the root cause of suffering.
We hold our life's unprocessed emotions in our bodies, especially in the chest and heart area. Using props like the ropes, as taught by my Guruji B.K.S. Iyengar, allows for a phenomenal opening of the chest. This is not just a physical stretch; it is a method for releasing stored trauma and grief, creating space for emotional healing.
The prevalence of PCOS and PCOD in modern times is not a coincidence. It is a direct result of the immense pressure on women, leading to hormonal chaos. I explain why a female body requires a different understanding and how the stress of modern life manifests as physical disease. Yoga provides a path to manage this, but it starts with acknowledging the root cause.
I know what it feels like to be broken. I was once bedridden for 12 years, unable to get up from the floor. It was this practice that healed me. Your body is a map of your mind, and emotional blockages manifest as physical ailments. Yoga is the one tool that works on all layers of your being to release these knots. If you are ready to change, I am ready to walk this journey with you.
To understand lower back pain, you must first understand the spine's structure. The disc is a gelatinous, shock-absorbing substance. When it degenerates or prolapses, activities like jogging or even long walks can cause further damage. My method is scientific; we first release nerve pressure, then create space between the vertebrae, and finally build the strength of the paraspinal muscles for lasting relief.
Here, you see the essence of my therapeutic work. With the support of props and my trained assistants, this student is able to achieve a deep, supported backbend that would be impossible otherwise. This precision allows us to work on deep-seated stiffness and emotional blockages safely, restructuring the body and mind.
Archana came to me seeking a way out of the depression that followed her breast cancer diagnosis. In our medical classes, she found not just physical support but the courage to heal from within. Her journey is a testament to how this practice can change your entire perspective on life.
I honor my Guru, B.K.S. Iyengar, whose genius and inspiration are the foundation of all my work. It is through his teachings that the tree of yoga has flourished, offering a path to healing and self-realization for the world.
My center, Yogakshema, was designed to be a sanctuary of peace and tranquility. It is a space where you can disconnect from the noise of the world and reconnect with your body, mind, and soul, unlocking the door to inner joy.
About Featured
Iyengar yoga is not about flexible poses; it is about alignment. We use specific wooden props like chairs and belts to support your body so you can safely reach areas that are locked by old stress or injury. You are not coming here to stretch; you are coming to rebuild your spine and nervous system, step by step.
My work at Yogakshema is founded on the belief that your body is a map of your mind. When you are out of alignment, you are essentially leaking energy. My sessions, whether for beginners or those seeking therapeutic relief, focus on sealing these leaks through the systematic application of B.K.S. Iyengar's teachings.
The Science of Props
Many students fear they are not 'flexible enough' for yoga. In my classes, we use props not as cheats, but as precise instruments. A chair, a rope, or a belt allows us to bypass your body's self-imposed limitations, creating the space needed to work on nerve pressure, disc issues, or deep-seated emotional blocks. This is how we move beyond symptomatic relief to structural change.
Therapeutic and Foundation Batches
I run structured courses out of my Delhi centers at Mandi House and Rouse Avenue, as well as live interactive online sessions.
- Foundation Courses: These are for those who want to learn the discipline, starting from basic standing poses to build the necessary stamina.
- Therapeutic Classes: These are intense. We focus on specific issues—from lower back pain and cervical stiffness to anxiety and hormonal imbalances. We use a high ratio of assistants to students to ensure the posture is mathematically precise.
This is not a feel-good, relaxed hour. It is work. If you are prepared to observe your limitations and put in the practice required to overcome them, I am here to guide you. If you are looking for a quick fix or a shortcut, this is not the place for you.
