Authentic Iyengar Yoga Classes in JP Nagar
I teach yoga to help you connect with your body, not just copy poses. Using the Iyengar method, we use props to make every session safe, supportive, and tailored to exactly where you are.
This is the essence of my restorative workshops, a space to release and heal, guided by the soothing sounds of live sitar. It is more than just a yoga class; it is a journey inward to find deep rest for your body and mind.
During my own third trimester, supported inversions like Sarvangasana were a source of immense relief and calm. Using props like a chair and bolster makes the pose safe and accessible, helping to boost circulation and reduce swelling.
The Iyengar chair is one of a teacher's most valuable tools for refinement and observation. In my workshops for teachers, I focus on how to use the chair to provide structure, make complex poses safer, and adapt sequences for different bodies and injuries.
Props are our friends in Iyengar yoga, helping us understand alignment and experience poses with more clarity. This is a quick look at how we use common props like blocks, belts, chairs, and bolsters to support and deepen the practice for every student.
Hearing from my students is the greatest reward. In this video, they share their personal experiences, including how prenatal yoga helped them feel flexible and fit through four pregnancies, leading to natural deliveries.
This was me years ago, before I found the path that led me to lose weight, become a published author, and build a yoga career from scratch. My journey is a testament to the transformative power of a consistent and honest practice.
My practice has shifted and matured since becoming a mother. This moment from a trip to Sri Lanka captures my new normal, finding yoga not just on the mat, but in the quiet, authentic moments of life.
About this collection
Whether you are navigating pregnancy, managing back pain, or simply looking to deepen your practice, my approach focuses on alignment and stability. We do not just 'do' yoga; we use chairs, blocks, and bolsters to observe your body, address specific needs, and build a foundation that actually lasts.
Yoga is rarely about being the most flexible person in the room. It is about understanding how your body moves and finding ways to practice that are safe and sustainable. In my classes at Amrutha Bindu Yoga in JP Nagar, we lean heavily into the Iyengar method.
Why Props Are Essential
Props like chairs, belts, and bolsters are not crutches for beginners. They are intelligent tools that give us feedback, allowing us to align properly and work deeply without straining joints or muscles. Whether you are dealing with a chronic back injury, managing PCOS, or are in a specific stage of pregnancy, these props help me adapt every sequence to your unique anatomy.
My Offerings
- Prenatal & Postpartum Support: My own journey through motherhood taught me that yoga needs to be fluid and adaptable. I offer guided sessions that help you feel supported and strong during every trimester and into recovery.
- Therapeutic 1-on-1s: For those dealing with specific pain or injury, we start with a consultation. I design a custom sequence that uses traction and supported asanas to help you heal at your own pace.
- Technical Intensives: If you are a practitioner or a fellow teacher looking to refine your technique, we run focused workshops on using specific props—like the yoga chair—to unlock deeper states of practice.
Everything I teach is grounded in my experience as a mother and a practitioner who built this life from scratch. I do not push limits for the sake of it; I help you find the quiet, steady strength within yourself.
