We believe music is a fundamental right, not a luxury. Our mobile classroom travels to underserved neighborhoods, ensuring every child has the chance to discover the joy of sound.

A truly special day on our 'Sound Space on Wheels' bus. We were joined by global music star Shawn Mendes, who sat with us and the children, sharing in the joy of music.

An unbelievable moment for our students. Shawn Mendes gives them a private performance of his hit song 'Señorita' right in their neighborhood. This is the magic of bringing music to the community.

A happy group of children wave in front of the 'Sound Space on Wheels' bus. After a session of musical storytelling and receiving new books, their smiles say it all.

Our welcome song, "Namaste, Pranam, Salaam," had a surprise guest. Shawn Mendes joins in with the children on our music bus, creating a beautiful moment of cross-cultural connection.

A music and movement session in progress inside the bus with our special guest, Shawn Mendes. The children are learning sargam through a song about flowers, using hand gestures to learn the notes.

Our co-founders, Kamakshi and Vishala, lead a book reading of 'Jungle Jugalbandi' for children inside the 'Sound Space on Wheels' bus. The cozy, green-floored interior creates a perfect learning environment.

About Sound Space on Wheels: Our Mission

The bus is far more than a transport vehicle; it is a fully equipped mobile studio that rolls directly into the heart of a basti. When we arrive, we lay out the mats and instruments, transforming a roadside stop into a safe, vibrant space for singing, storytelling, and rhythm. Every session is designed to break down barriers, turning curiosity into confidence through music.

Our 'Sound Space on Wheels' initiative is the heartbeat of our outreach work. We know that many children in our city do not have access to formal arts education, so we decided to take the classroom to them.

Inside the bus, we create a screen-free, immersive environment where we teach everything from basic sargam to storytelling through song. We often use our 'Jungle Jugalbandi' method, which uses nature sounds and playful narratives to introduce classical concepts like rhythm and pitch without the pressure of traditional, rigid training.

This isn't just about music lessons. It is about emotional development. Music helps children build patience, focus, and a sense of belonging. Whether we are hosting a sensory music session for toddlers or a group jam for older students, the goal is always connection.

We have been fortunate to see this mission grow, with moments as special as a visit from Shawn Mendes, who joined our students for a jam session, proving that music has a universal language that transcends everything. We are committed to expanding our reach to more areas across Mumbai, but we need the community to help us keep the wheels turning. Every session on the bus is offered free of charge, and your support allows us to maintain the vehicle, buy instruments, and pay our dedicated teachers who make this work possible.

We are sisters, Kamakshi and Vishala. We started this bus because we believe music is a bridge that connects us all. We are on the road every week, fueled by the conviction that every child deserves a creative outlet to express themselves freely.
