About Themed Music Workshops for Children
What I Really Want Kids to Get from Music
Music workshops here aren’t about training child prodigies or pushing for stage-ready performances. I’m all about giving children a space to make friends with art, find their unique voice, and just soak in the simple joy of sound. I see music as a buddy for every kid, not a competition.
What Goes Down in a Workshop
Every session is noisy, colourful, and full of movement. Kids aren’t just sitting around - they’re up, exploring and playing. I mix musical storytelling with hands-on instrument fun. Sometimes we sing along with illustrated books, sometimes we jam on the tabla, djembe, sitar, or bansuri. Scarves, shakers, and dance moves are always part of the mix. Learning about rhythm, pitch, and taal (beats) happens without kids even realising it’s happening – it’s all play.
Why It Matters
Music helps kids concentrate, listen better, and even connect different parts of their brains. More than anything, it gives them a safe way to show what they feel. I want them to feel free, not judged.
A Taste of the Themes
“Jungle Jugalbandi” is our favourite - kids join the surli koyal (sweet-singing cuckoo), play the manjira, and get lost in the forest’s music. There’s also Indian folk music for children, where we travel across states through beats and tunes. Around festivals and seasons, I run special sensory music play for toddlers and older kids too.
For Parents
If your child is 6 months to 4 years, you can join in too. No need to know music. Just come, bond, and enjoy the moment together. The goal is always connection, not perfection.

My Story
Hey, we’re Kamakshi and Vishala. Sisters, partners, music lovers. The Sound Space happened because we believe music isn’t just notes and raags—it’s feelings, it’s connection, it’s healing. Kamakshi’s a mom and that changed everything; our programs are built from a mother’s heart, not just a teacher’s mind. We see music as friendship, not competition. From parent-toddler jams to our musical bus in the basti, we want everyone to feel at home here. Our village is growing, and you’re invited.
