About The Music Hour: Free Community Lessons
The Music Hour is our way of giving back, offering free group sessions at our Gurugram conservatories for children who show real musical promise. These are not casual hobby sessions; they are structured, in-person classes where we introduce students to the fundamentals of Hindustani vocals and Western music theory. If your child is eager to learn but needs the right environment to start, this is where they can find their footing.
Why We Offer The Music Hour
We founded The Metropolitan School of Music to provide serious music education, but we recognize that many talented children do not have access to quality training. The Music Hour is a sponsored initiative aimed at bridging that gap. Our goal is to identify children who have a natural inclination for rhythm, melody, and pitch, and provide them with the same high-quality instruction our enrolled students receive.
What Students Learn
These sessions are designed to build a solid foundation. Depending on the batch, your child will explore:
- Hindustani Vocals: Understanding raga basics, breathing techniques, and Indian sargam.
- Western Fundamentals: Introduction to solfege (Do, Re, Mi), rhythm training, and ear development.
- Group Dynamics: Learning to sing and perform with others, which helps build confidence and musical listening skills.
How It Works
These sessions are held in-person at our facilities in Nirvana Country (Sector 50) and Uppal Southend (Sector 49). Because we keep group sizes small to ensure quality, these seats are limited. The sessions are fully sponsored by our conservatory, making them accessible to any child who passes the initial assessment. We focus on consistency and discipline, so we ask that families commit to regular attendance once a seat is awarded.
If you believe your child is ready to take their music seriously, reach out to us. We look forward to hearing them play.
