Witness the magic as our students—from toddlers to teens—come together to share their musical journeys. These moments on stage aren't just about performing; they are reflections of the community we have built, one sur at a time.

A powerful moment from our 'Sakhya 2025' concert, where our student choir performs a patriotic song, saluting in unison. This performance at the Royal Opera House was a culmination of months of dedication and teamwork.

About Our Students on Stage

When you see our students on stage, you are seeing the result of a process that values courage over perfection. Whether it is a grand concert at the Royal Opera House or an intimate classroom showcase, our goal is always the same: giving every child a safe space to be heard. We do not coach for competition; we coach for confidence, ensuring that each student feels at home under the spotlight.

Performance is an integral part of our musical philosophy, but it looks very different here. Our annual showcase, ‘Sakhya’, brings together over 125 students of all ages, from toddlers just starting their journey to teens mastering their craft. We hold these events at iconic venues like the Royal Opera House not for prestige, but to show our students that their voices matter on any stage.

Why We Perform

We believe that stepping onto a stage—big or small—is a powerful tool for growth. It helps children build patience, focus, and self-belief. By preparing for a showcase, students learn to appreciate the process as much as the final output. We strip away the pressure of "getting it right" and replace it with the joy of "getting it together."

What You Will See

Our performances are a blend of Indian classical roots and accessible folk music. You will see students playing the tabla or djembe alongside choir vocals, all executed with a sense of playfulness. We involve everyone—children from our regular classes and kids from our 'Sound Space on Wheels' outreach program—ensuring that every child gets a chance to participate.

Preparing for the Stage

We do not hold endless, stressful rehearsals. Our stage preparation is an extension of our studio play. We ensure that when a child walks onto that stage, they feel just as comfortable as they do in our classrooms in Mumbai or Pune. It is about celebrating the collective rhythm we have created, ensuring our students leave with a sense of pride and a deeper friendship with music.

We are Kamakshi and Vishala, sisters on a mission to make music a friend for every child. We started The Sound Space to move beyond the traditional performance-only approach, focusing instead on building a community where kids feel safe to explore, make mistakes, and find their unique voices.
