We are Kamakshi and Vishala, sisters and co-founders on a mission to make music a part of daily life. Meet the people who guide our students with warmth, patience, and a whole lot of melody.

"The ultimate goal is to use music as a tool to really help one to connect with themselves and their environment." In this interview, our co-founder Kamakshi shares the core philosophy behind The Sound Space. We believe music is a powerful catalyst for growth at any age.

"I feel like everyone deserves that chance to be able to find a friendship in a form of art." Our co-founder Vishala shares her personal connection to music and the founding principle of The Sound Space: to share the gift of music with as many people as possible.

A quick, cheerful message from us, co-founders Kamakshi and Vishala. We are excited to announce the start of a new term with a fully refurbished curriculum, filled with new songs and learnings for our students.

A candid moment of joy at our 'Jungle Jugalbandi' book launch. We are so proud to share this creation, a project that combines our love for music, storytelling, and education.

About Meet Our Team

When you walk into our sessions, you won't find strict academicians obsessed with stage-ready perfection. Instead, you will meet guides who know how to turn a simple swar (note) into a story, helping your child find their own rhythm in a way that feels natural, safe, and entirely pressure-free. Our approach is built from a mother’s heart, meaning we prioritize how a child feels during the process over how they perform at the end of it.

The Sound Space began with a simple belief: music is not just for the gifted or the stage. It is a tool for connection, healing, and personal growth. As sisters, Kamakshi and Vishala created this space to make Indian music accessible to everyone, from toddlers experiencing their first sound to adults looking to find friendship in art.

Our Philosophy

We view music as a bridge to mental well-being and confidence. We avoid the high-pressure environment often associated with classical music training. Whether it is our Jungle Jugalbandi workshops or our Hindustani classical sessions, our goal remains the same—to create a safe environment where children are free to explore, make noise, and learn without judgment. Our curriculum is designed to be effective, meaning students often see results quickly, but the joy of the process is the real win.

The Team

Our teachers are not just musicians; they are mentors who share our passion for holistic learning. They undergo training that focuses on early childhood development, ensuring they can handle the energy of a room full of toddlers just as well as the curiosity of adults. We actively use props, movement, and storytelling to introduce the basics of rhythm, pitch, and taal.

Why Join Us?

If you are looking for music classes in Mumbai that focus on the 'human touch,' you are in the right place. We invite you to join our growing village, where the focus is always on the heartbeat behind the music.
