About Hindustani Music Classes for All Ages
Why We Teach Music
At The Sound Space, music is our way to connect and grow, not just perform. We’re two sisters who think of art as a friend, and we’re always trying to build a community where every sur (note) feels welcome. Whether you’re six months old or sixty, there’s a place for you here.
How Our Classes Work
- We keep things relaxed - no stress, no judgment.
- Learning happens through singing, stories, rhythm games, and movement. Kids especially love this interactive style.
- Our approach mixes Hindustani vocal training with a strong focus on music for emotional well-being.
- Classes run for different ages:
- Parent-child music bonding for toddlers, using stories, games, and little percussion instruments.
- Indian classical music for beginners and older kids, with a chance to perform at our annual showcase.
- Adults get a space to join group singing workshops, whether you’re a newbie or just want to sing for fun.
What You’ll Experience
- Basics like swars (notes), sargam, and finding your pitch.
- Playful dives into raag and taal (melody and rhythm).
- Exploring classical instruments - ever wanted to try Tabla or Harmonium?
- Folk music from all over India, because every region has its own vibe.
Where We’re At
We’re based in Mumbai, but online classes are open to anyone. Trial sessions available if you want to see what it’s like. Music here isn’t about being perfect - it’s about finding your own voice, at your own pace.

My Story
Hey, we’re Kamakshi and Vishala. Sisters, partners, music lovers. The Sound Space happened because we believe music isn’t just notes and raags—it’s feelings, it’s connection, it’s healing. Kamakshi’s a mom and that changed everything; our programs are built from a mother’s heart, not just a teacher’s mind. We see music as friendship, not competition. From parent-toddler jams to our musical bus in the basti, we want everyone to feel at home here. Our village is growing, and you’re invited.
