About The Sound Space in the News
Seeing our work shared by platforms like The Better India and The Hindu is deeply humbling. These features are not just about us, they represent a growing support for our core belief that music should be a friend to every child. We are grateful for every opportunity to share why we make music education accessible and fun, whether through our mobile bus in Mumbai or our workshops.
It has been an incredible experience to see our work highlighted by publications like Rolling Stone India, Mid-day, and YourStory. Our journey began with a simple idea, music is not just about technique or hitting the right sur (notes), it is a tool for emotional growth, focus, and connection.
When Rolling Stone India covered our children’s book Jungle Jugalbandi, it validated our approach of using storytelling to introduce Hindustani classical music to young learners. We do not push for perfection or stage-ready performances. Instead, we use movement, rhythm, and play to make classical music feel like a natural part of a child's life.
Our Sound Space on Wheels project, featured by outlets like News18 and Good News Today, reflects our commitment to democratizing music education. By taking a bus equipped with instruments like djembes and sitars to underserved communities, we aim to ensure that financial barriers do not stop a child from discovering the joy of sound. We are deeply thankful to every journalist and storyteller who has helped us reach more families. We invite you to join our growing village, where the goal is always connection, not competition.
The Sound Space
We are sisters Kamakshi and Vishala, and we started The Sound Space to make music a friend for everyone. We do not focus on competition or rigid training. Instead, we use play, storytelling, and a lot of heart to help children find their own voice and rhythm.
