The stage is where my practice becomes an offering. Here, I blend classical storytelling with modern stagecraft to share the depth of our traditions.

A powerful moment from a recent solo performance. The stage is where practice, devotion, and storytelling come together. This is the culmination of the discipline we build in the classroom.

Performing a piece called 'Taal Swaroop' that explores the essence of Dhamaar, a rhythmic cycle in Hindustani music. Here, I am interpreting the character of the taal through movement and expression.

This performance delves into the unique features of four different taals, or rhythmic cycles. It was an experiment not just with compositions, but with expressing the very identity of each rhythm.

A clip from my performance for 'Santati', an initiative by my Guru, Pt. Rajendra Gangani. This piece, 'Taal Swaroop', was my humble offering to the passage of our artistic legacy.

This performance explores the idea of finding peace, or 'Sukoon', through Kathak. The continuous spins, or 'chakkars', represent a shedding of worldly noise to find inner stillness.

An intimate performance for a small audience. I enjoy these settings as they allow for a deeper connection and a more personal sharing of the art form.

This composition, created by my Guruji, was inspired by the odd-even traffic rule in Delhi. It demonstrates how Kathak can find rhythm and structure in everyday concepts, blending numbers and art.

A performance clip from the archives. The joy of Kathak lies in the journey it takes you on, where melody, expression, and spirit come together in a fulfilling experience.

Portraying Lord Shiva through a traditional composition. Abhinaya, or the art of expression, allows a dancer to embody different characters and convey complex emotions and stories.

Every movement in Kathak tells a story. This clip shows a sequence of narrative gestures and footwork, bringing a character or a scene to life for the audience.

About Stage Performances

Every performance I curate is an exercise in Rasa, that surreal bliss meant to transcend the mundane. When I step onto the stage, whether I am exploring complex rhythmic cycles like Dhamaar or narrating Puranic tales, I am not just dancing. I am interpreting the Shastras to ensure the narrative is accessible, using live rhythmic accompaniment and carefully choreographed visual elements to bridge the gap between ancient tradition and the modern stage.

My stage work is deeply grounded in the Jaipur Gharana, a tradition passed down by my Guru, Pt. Rajendra Gangani. It is not about perfect footwork alone; it is about Taal Swaroop—understanding the identity of a rhythmic cycle, whether it is the complexity of Dhamaar or the subtle nuances of Teental.

I often collaborate with musicians to ensure the interplay between the tabla and my Padhant, or vocal percussion, is organic rather than rehearsed. In productions like 'Santati,' I experiment with how classical forms can inhabit modern spaces. For me, the stage is a laboratory. I break down mathematical patterns of odd and even beats, then translate them into movement that an audience can feel, not just watch.

When you see me perform, you will notice that I prioritize Abhinaya, or the art of expression, as much as Nritta, or pure dance. Whether I am portraying Shiva or exploring the philosophy of a specific Taal, the goal is to create a moment of Trupti, or pure satisfaction. I do not perform for applause; I perform to share the stories that have shaped our culture. If you are looking to host a classical production that respects the roots of our art while maintaining the relevance of today, we should talk.
