A glimpse into my world of Kathak where rigorous tradition meets personal expression. These highlights showcase the technical precision of the Jaipur Gharana and the joy of the dance.

This is a glimpse into a solo performance, where every movement is a blend of tradition and personal expression. The grace of Kathak lies in its power and subtlety, a balance I strive to achieve and teach in my workshops.

Here is a look into the core of my Layakari & Padhant Intensive. I break down the complex mathematics of rhythm, showing how we recite and internalize bols like 'tirakita' at different speeds, making the abstract tangible and accessible for advanced learners.

This is a footwork challenge I love, fitting 11 different taal patterns into a single cycle of Drut Teentaal. It demonstrates the incredible rhythmic complexity and precision we aim for in our advanced footwork sessions.

Abhinaya, or expression, is the soul of Kathak. In this piece, I interpret the nuanced emotions of a ghazal, showing how we use subtle gestures and expressions to tell a story that transcends words.

A magical moment from our 'NrityaChanda' showcase where the audience joined in counting the beats. This captures the live energy of a performance, supported by my mother, Guru Smt. Radhika Sathe, and our talented musicians.

A beautiful moment of synchronicity and grace from our 'NrityaChanda 2026' stage production. This showcases the culmination of rigorous training and the unity of my student ensemble.

This is for the dedicated student ready to deepen their practice. My KNM Teentaal Intensive is designed for dancers with at least three years of training, focusing on the intricate details of this foundational 16-beat cycle.

There is a unique power you feel when your body becomes a vessel for rhythm. This short clip captures the empowering energy of a full-bodied spin, a fundamental and exhilarating part of Kathak.

About Featured

In my intensive workshops, I do not just teach the steps. We spend time on the underlying math of the rhythm, ensuring you understand the why behind every 'bol' or 'tihai'. If you are joining my sessions, be prepared to do more than copy movements. We will focus on internalizing the 16-beat cycle through rigorous 'padhant' and precise footwork drills.

Kathak is often misunderstood as merely a graceful dance, but for those who commit to the practice, it is a discipline of body, mind, and intellect. My approach, rooted in the Jaipur Gharana, prioritizes the 'Layakari' (rhythmic play) that gives this style its signature power.

The Math Behind the Movement

Many of my students come to me after years of basic training, looking for the 'missing pieces'—the ability to recite 'padhant' with confidence or to execute complex 'tihais' without losing the 'sam' (the first beat of the rhythm cycle). Whether we are breaking down a 'Tarana' or dissecting a 'Teentaal' composition, the goal is to stop relying on muscle memory alone and start understanding the rhythmic structure of the music.

Why Live Online Intensives?

I run my classes on Zoom, but they are designed to be as close to a studio experience as possible. You get real-time corrections on your 'angshuddhi' (posture) and footwork placement. We also maintain a digital repository of practice tracks and session recordings, so your 'riyaaz' at home remains consistent.

Beyond the Classroom

Performance is the ultimate test of your practice. Through our 'Nritya-Chanda' showcases, my students get the chance to move beyond the screen and experience the energy of a live audience. If you have been dancing for at least three years and feel ready to push your boundaries, I invite you to explore the Teentaal Syllabus or my upcoming rhythmic intensives. Let us find your voice in this dance together.
