Dance is a journey of constant exploration. From the crisp geometry of Nritta to the quiet intensity of Abhinaya, these are moments from my recent solo recitals and stage collaborations.

This is a moment from a recent concert in Pune. For me, performance is the culmination of years of practice, a space where technique and emotion come together to tell a story.

Performing the TANA Varnam in Behag. This piece is a beautiful challenge, demanding both stamina for the pure dance sequences and deep expressiveness for the storytelling parts.

Abhinaya, or facial expression, is the soul of Bharatanatyam. This close up from a performance captures a moment of storytelling, where every glance and gesture holds meaning.

Performing a Devi Stuti in Pune. It was an honor to present this piece and to receive such warm appreciation from the audience. I am always grateful for these opportunities.

A photo from the premiere of 'Bhakti Sringara' in Mumbai. This composition explores the delicate intersection of devotion and love, a theme that is central to many classical pieces.

Some snippets from a recent concert. Every performance is a unique experience, an exchange of energy with the audience and the musicians on stage.

A short clip from the last swaram of a Behag varnam. The swaram sections are pure dance, focusing on intricate footwork, rhythm, and graceful movements.

About this collection

When I step on stage, the connection with live musicians—like my anna Parshwanath or my percussionist friends—is what defines the flow. I do not just perform set choreography; we co-create every moment in real-time, which is why I prefer bringing my own accompanists for bookings to ensure the music and movement stay in sync.

Performance for me is not about the applause; it is the culmination of hours in the studio, a space where technique meets emotional honesty. Whether it is the TANA Varnam in Behag, which demands immense stamina, or a more reflective Devi Stuti, my goal is always to treat every piece as a personal quest.

My Approach to Performance

  • Live Music: I believe Bharatanatyam is incomplete without live accompaniment. I work closely with vocalists, mridangam players, and violinists to build a performance that breathes with the music.
  • Abhinaya Focus: My pieces are often noted for their emphasis on Abhinaya. I try to tell stories that relate to the gods and human emotion in my own way, avoiding unnecessary drama and keeping the focus on subtle, impactful storytelling.
  • Technical Precision: From the swaram sections that require intricate footwork to the sustained poses of a Varnam, I maintain a strict focus on Nritta precision, drawing from the geometry and stamina-building techniques I teach in my workshops.

Every recital is a unique exchange of energy. I have performed at venues ranging from concert halls in Mumbai and Pune to intimate temple settings. If you are looking to book a performance, I am happy to discuss the concept, the music ensemble, and how we can bring an authentic classical experience to your event.
