These milestones represent more than just plaques on a wall; they reflect the discipline required to keep our ancient stories alive through rhythm and movement.

The official certificate for the prestigious 'Rajyothsava' award from the Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce & Industry. I am humbled by this honor.

A photo from the award ceremony where I was honored with the 'Rajyothsava' award. I am grateful for the recognition of my work in the field of Harikatha and dance.

I was honored to be bestowed with the title 'Kala PraPoorna' by the Shivapriya Institute. Such milestones are a great encouragement to continue on this artistic path.

About Recognition & Milestones

While these awards—like the Rajyothsava honor from the FKCCI—are significant, I view them primarily as a responsibility to continue the lineage of Harikatha and Kathak. When you step into my classes or watch a production, you aren’t just seeing a performer; you are witnessing a commitment to the Shastras that I have spent years refining, ensuring that classical traditions remain relevant for a modern audience.

In our tradition, the value of an artist is not measured by a trophy, but by the 'Rasa'—the emotional bliss—we manage to evoke in the audience. Receiving the 'Kala PraPoorna' title from the Shivapriya Institute or the Rajyothsava award from the FKCCI is a humbling reminder of the trust people place in my work. However, my objective remains constant: to bridge the gap between ancient epics and the modern mind.

Whether it is through Kathak choreography that integrates 3D technology or Harikatha performances that simplify complex philosophies, my goal is always to make the classical accessible. If you are looking to learn Kathak, these recognitions offer a glimpse into the rigor of the training you will receive. I do not believe in teaching just steps; I believe in teaching the underlying mathematics and storytelling—the Padhant and the Taals—that make Kathak a moving meditation.

These milestones are simply signposts on a journey that I share with my students. If you are starting your own journey, whether in dance or vocal music, know that you are learning from someone who is deeply invested in the continuity of our heritage.

I am Sharat Prabhath, and I see art as a form of worship that has run in my family for generations. My work is not just about technique; it is about finding that intersection where ancient storytelling meets the modern heart.
