Yoga is more than just shapes on a mat. It is a lineage, a philosophy, and a continuous inner study. Join me as we explore how the ancient teachings of Ashtanga yoga ground our daily lives and build strength from within.

An explanation of 'Yajna' or sacrifice, showing how scriptures offer a deeper meaning to the word dedication.

A simple graphic on 'Unselfishness', one of the key attributes of dedicated action in yogic philosophy.

A graphic on 'Sacrifice', another attribute of Yajna, which means accepting suffering for a noble cause.

A graphic on 'Dedication', the act of giving one's energy and time to a higher purpose.

A graphic on 'Detachment', the fourth key attribute for selfless action, a core concept in yoga.

About The Yogi's Path: Lineage, Philosophy & Self-Study

Beyond the asanas, my classes focus on svadhyaya (self-study) to help you understand your own practice. Whether we are discussing the Bhagavad Gita or clarifying a specific breathing technique, these sessions are designed to connect the theory of yoga to your physical movement, ensuring you know exactly why you practice the way you do.

The Importance of Parampara

In the Ashtanga tradition, parampara (lineage) is the bridge between the teacher and the student. It is not just about memorizing sequences but about receiving knowledge in the way it was intended to be passed down. My instruction is rooted in what I learned during my time in Mysore under Guruji Sharath Jois. When you practice in my shala in HSR Layout, you are stepping into a method that has been refined over generations.

Integrating Philosophy into Daily Life

Yoga often gets reduced to physical fitness, but the ashtanga (eight-limbed) path covers much more. Through our sessions, we touch upon how concepts like tapasya (discipline/penance) and yajna (dedication) manifest in your life off the mat. We do not just move; we reflect. This helps you build a practice that supports you through life's challenges, rather than one that just adds more to your to-do list.

How We Study Together

  • Mysore Style: This is the core of our lineage. You practice at your own pace while I provide individual adjustments, allowing you to develop a personal relationship with the sequence.
  • Led Classes: These sessions help us synchronize our breath and movement, ensuring the correct vinyasa count, which is essential to the integrity of the system.
  • Theory & Discussion: We dedicate time to discuss yogic texts. My goal is to make these ancient concepts practical for a modern, city-based lifestyle, helping you find internal balance amidst the hustle of Bangalore.
