My Yoga Philosophy: Real Practice for Real People
I teach from experience, not a textbook. Here is my approach to yoga—simple, real, and focused on helping you find your own pace on the mat.
I often hear, "I'm not flexible enough for yoga." Let me tell you a secret: I couldn't touch my toes when I started. I began practicing yoga to manage my anxiety and depression, and along the way, I discovered that flexibility of the mind is just as important as flexibility of the body. You don't start yoga because you're flexible; you start yoga to become flexible, inside and out.
One-on-one sessions are where we can truly transform your practice. Here, I provide hands-on guidance to help you understand alignment in your own body, ensuring you feel safe and supported. This personalized attention is perfect if you're working with specific goals, recovering from an injury, or simply want to deepen your practice in a private setting.
There's a special energy when we practice together in a group. It’s a space for shared growth where you learn not just from me, but from the focus and dedication of others around you. My group classes are a welcoming community where we evolve and transform together, one breath at a time.
Had a long day at your desk? This simple sequence is designed to melt away workday stress. We focus on gentle poses like Setubandhasana (Bridge Pose) and Marjariasana (Cat-Cow) to release tension from your back, neck, and hips, helping you transition from a state of stress to one of calm.
Ever wonder what a 60-minute class with me looks like? I structure every session with a clear purpose, starting with breathwork to center your mind, moving through warm-ups and mindful flows, and ending with deep rest. This video breaks down the flow of my Hatha Vinyasa classes so you know exactly what to expect.
Yoga is a powerful tool for building both strength and flexibility. In this Vasisthasana (Side Plank) variation using a block, you can see how we build core stability and arm strength while learning to use props to support our practice. It’s about finding your power in a sustainable, accessible way.
Hearing from my students is the most rewarding part of my work. Listen to Darshana share how her one-on-one practice with me evolved from being just physical fitness into a way of life that supports her mental health. Her journey is a beautiful testament to the deeper impact of yoga.
About this collection
I don't care if you can touch your toes on day one—I couldn't either. My teaching focuses on what happens off the mat just as much as what happens on it. Whether we are flowing through a Vinyasa sequence or holding a Hatha pose, the goal is always to build a relationship with your body that is kind, not critical.
Yoga isn't about being perfect, and it certainly isn't about looking a certain way. When I started my own journey in 2016, I was dealing with anxiety and depression, and I could barely reach my shins. I want to show you that the 'perfect' yogi image is a myth that often keeps people from ever starting.
My Hatha and Vinyasa blend is designed to be functional, not fancy. We focus on breathwork to calm the nervous system, followed by sequences that build real, usable strength. In my studio, we use props like blocks and walls to make sure every pose is accessible to your anatomy, not the other way around.
Whether you're dealing with desk stiffness or just need a mental break, my sessions are about showing up for yourself. You will find real-time verbal corrections and assisted stretching that prioritize safety over showing off. This is a space where the roof might leak sometimes, but the support is solid. Come as you are, because you belong on the mat exactly as you are today.
Gowri
Hi, I'm Gowri. I started Mudra Yoga because I needed a sanctuary, and I wanted to build that for others, too. I'm not here to be your guru; I'm here to be a guide who has been through the same messy, human stuff you have.
