We don't just pick materials off a catalog. We choose them for how they age, how they catch the Bangalore sun, and how they make a space feel like home.

A work-in-progress shot of a west-facing facade. We designed this screen with angled stone fins to create a dynamic play of light throughout the day, while also providing shade and maintaining a connection to the street.

The texture of stone and the rhythm of shadows. This is a close-up of a fluted stone facade, where the changing angle of the sun creates a constantly evolving pattern of light and dark.

A view from inside an apartment building under construction. We designed the entire building to wrap around this magnificent existing tree, ensuring that future residents will have nature right at their doorstep.

The simple beauty of a brick wall in a courtyard. The changing sunlight creates moving shadows, turning a simple material into a dynamic surface. This is a work-in-progress clip that captures a moment of quiet beauty on site.

A look up at a skylight we are currently building. The semi-circular perforated bands are designed to cut the sun's glare, allowing just the right amount of soft light to filter down into the home.

A detail where two different stones meet. We love exploring the contrast between the rough, vertical texture of the granite fins and the smooth, dramatic pattern of the dark marble.

Looking up through the scaffolding at the canopy of the tree that this apartment building is designed around. Even during construction, the presence of the tree defines the space and hints at the final experience.

A work-in-progress detail of the 'Roots' house, showing the Cuddapah stone floor with brass inlays next to the terracotta screen. These material choices are foundational to the home's earthy and tactile feel.

A sliver of sky seen from a light well on one of our construction sites. We strategically place these openings to ensure that natural light penetrates deep into the building, creating bright and airy spaces.

This collection shows various other details from our projects, both completed and in progress. It includes shots of material textures, interior furnishings, light studies, and moments of life that bring our architectural spaces to completion.

About Craft & Detail: Our Material Philosophy

We don't pick materials just for how they look. We choose them for how they age. Whether it is the rough texture of Sadarhalli stone or the warmth of exposed brick, we design facades that catch the sun to create moving patterns of shadow, effectively turning a wall into a light-filtering screen that helps your home breathe.

When we build, our material palette is defined by what is honest and local. We use Sadarhalli granite and Cuddapah stone not because they are trendy, but because they hold up under the Bangalore weather and get better with time. When you look at our exposed concrete walls or wire-cut brick facades, you are seeing the structure itself acting as the finish. We believe in simplifying, not masking.

Our design process often starts with the light. We create operable screens and louvers that do more than just provide privacy. They act as a filter, turning the harsh afternoon heat away while allowing a soft, diffused glow to enter the room. This is how we achieve that indoor-outdoor connection. Whether it is a full ground-up build or a home renovation, we focus on raw finishes that require minimal maintenance.

We avoid the factory-made, plastic-wrapped aesthetic. Instead, we lean into natural materials that have a tactile quality. You will often see brass inlays in our stone flooring or custom-welded metal screens that serve a functional purpose. For us, architecture is about balancing privacy with connection, and we use these material details to celebrate the life happening inside the house.

I'm Lester, and Smruti is my partner here. We are a small team that treats architecture like a craft rather than a production line. Whether we are bending a building around an existing tree or experimenting with how light hits a brick wall, our goal is always to make spaces that feel deeply personal.
