About My Guru, My Lineage: B.K.S. Iyengar
When you walk into my studio, you are not getting a watered-down version of yoga. You are getting the exact same methodology I learned from B.K.S. Iyengar himself. Every prop usage—the bricks, the belts, the specific angle of the chair—is not arbitrary. It is a calculated technique to correct your alignment, just as Guruji taught us. If you are here for a flow-based workout, you are in the wrong place. If you are here to learn the science of your own body, you are exactly where you need to be.
The images here are more than just memories. They are the documentation of a rigorous path. Many people assume Iyengar Yoga is just about using props, but the props are merely tools to ensure precision. They are not crutches. They are there to support the body so the mind can learn the correct placement, ensuring that we do not 'spill' our energy, as I often explain in class.
The Methodology
When you study with me, you are studying the B.K.S. Iyengar method. This means we focus on:
- Precision: You will be corrected until your alignment is exact. There is no 'doing your own thing' in my studio.
- Sequential Learning: We move from standing poses to inversions only when the body is ready. This protects the endocrine system and builds real, structural strength.
- Therapeutic Intent: Whether you are dealing with PCOS, back pain, or emotional blockages, every sequence is designed to address the root cause, not just the symptom.
My studio, Yogakshema, is designed to facilitate this deep work. It is a quiet, controlled environment where we can strip away the noise of Delhi and focus entirely on the Sukshma Sharir (the subtle body).
