To improve your start, you must master acceleration. This magical workout focuses on explosive power in the initial phase of the sprint, helping athletes catch their competition and build a lead.
Running a perfect 200m curve is a science. I teach my athletes how to lean in, maintain a tight form, and attack the exit to carry maximum speed into the final straight.
A rainy day doesn't stop our training. Here, my athletes work on their starts on a wet track, building mental toughness and adapting to different conditions. Champions train no matter the weather.

This is a magical workout to improve speed. Downhill running forces your muscles to adapt to a much faster pace, giving you a significant edge when you return to a flat track. I use this 10 to 15 days before a competition for peak performance.
Mastering the curve is about control and technique, not just speed. I teach my athletes to lean correctly, drive their arms, and explode into the straight to maintain momentum and run a faster 200m or 400m.
This drill is designed to improve acceleration by creating a competitive chase scenario. The slower runner gets a head start, forcing the faster runner to accelerate harder to overtake them, pushing both to their limits.
The catch up trick is an excellent workout for improving acceleration. By giving the faster runner a target to chase, I force them to extend their limits and develop a more powerful drive phase.
The 'set' position is critical for an explosive start. I teach my athletes to maintain focus and a correct, powerful posture so they can react instantly to the gun and see the competition from the front.

You will often see us running downhill drills during our sessions. This isn't just about running fast; it forces your nervous system to adapt to higher speeds than you can hit on a flat track. We incorporate this specifically 10 to 15 days before a competition. It is a simple, non-negotiable tool that gives you that extra edge when you return to the flat ground.
The Mechanics of Speed
Speed comes from mechanics, not magic. Whether you are training at our IIT Delhi or GD Goenka facilities, the focus remains on the fundamentals. The first 30 meters of a 100m sprint are the backbone of your race. If your drive phase is off, you have already lost. We use resistance bands, drag running with weights, and block-start practice to ensure your initial acceleration is explosive.
Mastering the Curve
Running a 200m or 400m race requires more than just leg power; it requires a scientific approach to the curve. I teach my athletes to lean inward from the ankles, not the waist, while keeping the inside arm compact and the outside arm pumping. It is about control. You cannot attack the straight if you cannot hold your form on the turn.
Training Philosophy
We don't do 'easy'. My training sessions are built on the 'catch-up trick' and competition drills that force you to extend your limits. We make the faster runner start behind the slower one, forcing both to accelerate harder. If you are struggling with your gait or wasting energy with poor arm action, we fix it with immediate, repetitive technical correction. No filler, no shortcuts. Just hard work, sweat, and measured results.
