About Training for Para-Athletes
Training for para-athletics is not just about repetition; it is about biomechanics. When I work with a para-athlete, we start by identifying energy leaks in your movement. Whether you are using a racing wheelchair or running with a prosthesis, we use specific drills to correct your gait and optimize your arm action. This is not just theory—it is how my students have secured national records and podium finishes at the Asian Para Games.
Technique is where the race is won. For para-athletes, that means finding the balance between your natural strength and the mechanical efficiency of your equipment. My approach at Go Speed is simple: we do not treat disability as a constraint, but as a unique biomechanical puzzle to solve.
I do not offer generic plans. If you are training for the 100m or 200m, we break down your start, drive phase, and top-end speed using video analysis. We look for 'energy leaks'—those split-second movements that cost you milliseconds. For my para-athletes aiming for national or international events, the focus is intense:
- Technical Audit: We analyze your movement patterns to correct posture and foot strike or, for wheelchair athletes, your push technique.
- Specific Drills: I prescribe customized 'fix-it' drills that you can practice independently to reinforce muscle memory.
- Strength & Conditioning: We build the explosive power necessary to translate technical form into raw speed.
- Mental Fortitude: A race is won in the mind before the start signal fires. I push you beyond your comfort zone so that fatigue does not dictate your performance on the big stage.
Whether you are looking to compete in the National Para Athletics Championships or aiming for the international circuit, you need a coach who understands the nuance of your category. We keep the training tough, honest, and result-oriented. If you are ready to work, I am ready to coach.
